Boo at the Zoo 2016

 "Dont you understand, Tink? You mean more to me than anything in this whole world!" - Peter Pan

Saturday we packed up the kiddos and took them to Boo at the Zoo. The weather was gorgeous and cool and actually felt like a real fall day.
{Doing what she loves best - helping push the stroller}

We could have saved ourselves the $30 in tickets and hour car ride by just letting Charlotte run around the back yard and pick up leaves in her costume. But where's the fun in that?! This year being her 1st year she can appreciate the fall, she's totally and completely in love with stomping fallen leaves and collecting them up as her treasures.

We looked at all the animals in the zoo. Her favorite was the monkeys. We'd ask her what does the monkey say and we'd get a quiet little "oo oo" from Charlotte. We also growl like the tigers and hiss like the snakes. I'm having a blast with this age and it's by far my favorite! Watching her light up when she realizes she's communicating with us is the best!

{My favorite picture of a silly Peter Pan and sassy Tinkerbelle}

After walking around the zoo, the kiddos played on the playground for a little bit. We were going to get tickets for the train, but with naps already being skipped and hungry bellies starting to growl, we skipped the train and headed to the nearest Chick-fil-A for lunch.

{Her "hold me, Momma" face}

{I think I have a crush on Tinkerbelle's Dad ;)}

All-in-all a very successful morning out with our Peter Pan and Tinkerbelle! Major props to my Momma for making Walker's Peter Pan costume from head to toe! We've already got next year's coordinating costumes in the works! :) Love these kiddos more than anything and I'm so thankful I get to watch them grow up together!

Seafood Festival 2016

Pensacola couldn't have given us better weather this year for the Seafood Festival. Ethan met up with me after work on Friday and we walked over to the festival. Of course, first on our agenda was dinner and the crawfish po-boy with crawfish etouffee on top did not disappoint.

Charlotte napped through our dinner, but woke up in time to walk around and look at all the different booths. Of course I had to grab a couple of photo ops for next year to see how much she's grown!

We stopped by the swings to let Char play some since she had been cooped up in her stroller for awhile. She laughed and laughed as Ethan pushed her!

We took the long way back to our car after checking out all the booths. The weather was so perfect and we weren't in any rush to get back.

Charlotte's new fall hobby is stomping every dried leaf she sees. And crying if we don't let her. You can imagine the scenic route back to the car did take forever.

And of course, what kind of blogger mommy would I be if I didn't stop and get 100 photos of my baby posing by a distressed wooden wall.

Such a great evening spent with my two loves. While I hate to see summer go, I'm excited about all the fall activities that are coming, especially with all this gorgeous weather we're expecting!

The Market on Chapel Hill

 My girlfriends, gorgeous weather, a road trip and antiquing. All the things that sum up my Saturday.
We laughed. We ate. We gossiped. We shopped.
It was a good day to check out The Market on Chapel Hill.
I can't wait to go back next year!
Also, currently pricing houses to move to Pike Road, Alabama.
Just kidding.
Maybe.

Charlotte Reese is 12 months old!

All right.. insert clip of Britney Spears "Oops I Did It Again.." Because it's once again been a month since I blogged. I'm so bad at this now. It's unreal.

But regardless of whether I blog it or not, time is flying and my little ray of sunshine is growing up! Best moments this month include watching Charlotte take her first steps on July 18, just days shy of her 1st birthday! It was such a sweet moment because Ethan and I were both able to watch it happen! With both of us working, I was afraid we'd miss so many "firsts," but God was good to us and we've been able to be there for every first! I don't have the "official" first steps on video, but I have the ones taken shortly after and I so so cherish that video. It shows her genuine excitement and a proud Daddy watching his baby girl accomplish just one more thing on her list.

Charlotte loves giving hugs and big open-mouthed kisses. Books are her favorite thing in the world and my favorite thing in the world is when she grabs a book, drags it over to me and plops herself in my lap to read it. I had a moment recently where we happened to be sitting in view of my full-length mirror in my room. She was sitting in my lap, book in hers and she fit so perfectly. It made me tear up because one day she'll outgrow my lap. Moments like that make me savor and cherish little ordinary day moments even more.

Charlotte's communication with us is quickly becoming her own! She crinkles her nose when she smiles big about something she's happy about. She squeals and points very excitedly when she sees something she wants and she "signs" her version of "more" when she's eating. It's evolved from the traditional sign for "more" to now just pointing her fingers to her mouth, but it's her version and that makes me love it.

She got her first busted lip this past month, which totally broke my heart. She slipped on her walker toy and I swear life went into slow motion watching her fall and look up with tear-filled eyes and a bloody lip. Nothing a couple hundred kisses and an ice cube couldn't fix.

You love playing with your animal magnets at Grandma's house. And when you're feeling extra smart you can point out the kitty, puppy, and monkey one. But the one time I call your Dad over to watch, you acted like you've never heard of those things. Sigh.. you stubborn girl!

You're still our Char, Stinker, Pretty Girl, and Boogie.

Charlotte Reese, I was just telling your Daddy the other night that you're the best thing to ever happen to us. Thanks for making us a family, Little Girl. The first year may be over, but we've got so much more to look forward to!
