Weekend Fun

Nothing like a wreck on the bridge at 8 in the morning to get your Monday going!

This weekend was fun.  Nothing out of the ordinary really.  Friday night we went to Bro. Don & Mrs. Tina's house for the Sunday School cookout.  Or SS cookout if you want to be a hip texter like Bro. Don! We had burgers and sausage with chips, baked beans, and squash casserole!  It was a "bring drinks or dessert" kind of thing and apparently a lot of people (like myself) thought drinks were easier!  Dessert consisted of diet brownies made with applesauce and a bunch of fruit.  Hey, at least it was easy to stick (kinda) to my diet!  Me and Ethan were the last to leave and I think that was around midnight!  I love the fact that we can enjoy normal conversation with my pastor and his wife.

Saturday morning we slept in and headed to the pool.  Taylor came over for a couple hours as we basked in the beautiful Florida sunshine! :) Charlotte Russe was doing a special "Happy Hour" sale from 2-5 on all tops and since there were a couple of tops I've been wanting I convinced Ethan we needed to go shopping!  I got three tops and saved $23.97! Woot woot, go me!  After walking around the mall for awhile, we got dinner over at Fresh Market and headed home.  We ate our takeout dinners on the balcony as the sun set.  It was pretty nice!  Fresh Market sushi is decently good, but their sandwiches are awesome!  Next time we do Fresh Market dinner, I'm getting one like Ethan!  We watched the movie Argo which was a GREAT movie (minus the F-bombs that were dropped quite frequently..).  I can't believe it's actually based on a true story.  I'd like to know what parts are "based" and what are really real.. But all in all a very good movie/story.

Sunday morning was church.  The message was sooo for me!  Bro. Don preached from Matthew 6: 25-34.
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
I've been stressing lately about money and paying things off, but RIGHT THERE God tells us to not worry about tomorrow.  I feel like all I do is worry, worry, worry... Now, I know He isn't saying to live life carelessly and foolishly (YOLO..lol) but He is telling us that He will provide and take care of us.  I don't need to sweat the small stuff.  I'm definitely going to be chewing this verse (especially verse 34) over for a while.

Sunday afternoon was quiet for me.  Mom and Dad took Hannah to camp, Dakota was working, Alexis went to a friend's house, and Ethan was golfing with Colin.  So what did I do with an afternoon and house all to myself?!  Watched Toddlers & Tiaras and ate ice cream.  Yup, pretty awesome afternoon if you ask me.  When Ethan was done golfing we headed over to Taylor and Colin's house to watch a movie.  Scratch that.. Ethan and Colin watched a movie and me and Taylor talked in the kitchen the whole time!

Overall, great weekend.  Nothing really crazy exciting, but definitely a good time! ;)

High Five for Friday!

So I saw this on one of my favorite blogs..  She lists the five "highs" of the week for Friday!  I like the idea.  It's clever and catchy and something I'm going to do every week!

1.  I'll just start off with that my boss has taken two days of leave this week. Which. Is. Awesome. :)

2.  We had a looooong board meeting last night and I got home at 9:45.  The happy side of this? I earned 6.75 hours of comp time! Woot woot!  I've got two days extra I'm taking off on the 4th so that will come in handy!

3.  The Miami Heat won another championship! Haha! I enjoy this only because Ethan hates them so much!  I honestly couldn't care less.  Now.. what's the countdown to FSU football?!

4.  Dieting was a hit this week!  So far (I've got till Monday for my "full week" weigh-in) I've lost 1 lb!  I made a huge thing of ground turkey and brown rice and brought it to work and have been eating a serving a day for lunch.  Today's the last day (Thank you, Jesus!), but I think I'm going to do it again next week because its a.) so easy, b.) so cheap, and c.) so healthy!  I might mix it up and do taco-themed lunches next week.  Basically the same as this week except add some black beans,lettuce, and taco sauce! Boom! Taco-themed!

5.  I've made some progressive steps towards me and Ethan paying off all our debt and increasing our savings.  I figure I just have to take these steps and make them habits and we'll be well on our way to house/new car/baby next year!!

Well, folks, there it is.. my High Five for Friday!

Weekend Fun

Another Monday looking back over a fun weekend...

Friday was an okay day at work.  I had decided to start taking vitamins and the direction said "take two with meal."  I figured my 20+ grams of protein coffee shake counted as a meal.. No, it does not.  Two hours-ish after taking the two horse pills, I'm ready to die.  Cold chills, sweats, dry-heaving.. not pretty. (TMI.. yea, I know.)  I was able to combat the gross feeling by making sure I was never hungry the rest of the day.  The second I let my stomach realize it was empty, it was back to feeling like death.  After work, me and Ethan headed out to go see the new Superman movie - Man of Steel.  GREAT movie, but a little long for my taste (2.5 hours).  I'm not a big movie-watcher and I get so uncomfortable in the movie seats.  Add me just feeling miserable from my vitamin episode and I was a regular 'ole party pooper! Ethan has since sworn to never take me to another movie..

Saturday Ethan got up to go golfing (big surprise..) and I was left at home to fend for myself.  It was a nice, quiet morning for me.  I got up did the dishes, two loads of laundry, swept, and cleaned-up our room/bathroom.  Went for a run on the treadmill, ate a veggie egg-white omelet, and went downstairs to the pool to layout.  I decided to try a half-dose of vitamins.. still felt like crap, but not as bad as Friday.  Apparently my body thinks I get enough vitamins as it is.. The pool was SUPER crowded and I saw a few interesting characters while I was there.. There was a girl that had a mermaid fin/tail thing.  I'm talking unitard with a fin!  She must have been at least 14 or 15-years old! (And Dakota thought me and Taylor were weird at 15 for playing The Sims all night...) I stayed by the pool till about 2:30 then headed back upstairs to wait for Ethan to get home.  When he got home we headed to Black Water River to play on the boat with Mom, Dad, Dakota, Lex, Hannah, Grandma, and Grandpa.  Of course I would get sick and have to stay on the shore.. nasty Milton water.  Honestly, it just wasn't my weekend to be feeling great!

Sunday we got up, went to church, and stayed at my parent's house all day for Father's Day.  Nothing special, just ate and took a glorious 3-hour nap!  Went back to night church and then went home.  Just your plain Jane kinda day.  On a funny note - I got Ethan a Father's Day card.. from the cats.  He has such a love/hate relationship with the boys that when I found the card, I just HAD to get it for him.  Mind you, I'm not one of those crazies that always gets a card from the pets.  I was searching for my own Dad's Father's Day card and came across the cat card.  Anyways, I wanted to try to freak Ethan out by thinking I was pregnant.  Since I've been feeling like crap the past couple days, he's literally asked me everyday if I am pregnant.  Each time I've told him no.. so Sunday morning we wake up and I say "I got you a card..." all coy and such.. I get the card, hand it to him, and Mr. Romantic himself says "I know you're not pregnant."  Not wanting to ruin my possible "gotcha haha" moment, I just shrug my shoulders with a smile.  He opens the card and low-and-behold it's from the cats.  He got a laugh out of it.  I asked him why he immediately knew I wasn't pregnant.  He says "because you couldn't keep a secret like that."  Ok, touche, Ethan.  Guess when the time comes, I'll have to be sneaky and very creative! Hah!

On a side note - Diet Week 1 has been great!  I've lost 3 lbs!! :) I'll do a diet post soon, but probably will wait till the actual Day 30 to do so! See ya then!

Happy 3rd Anniversary!

A love letter:

Dear Ethan,

I can't believe it's already been three years since we were married.  I guess time does fly when you're having fun!  It only feels like yesterday that I was walking down the aisle on that hot, hot June day to promise forever with you.  I honestly don't think forever would be long enough.  You're my best friend, the one I go to for anything, the one I want to grow old with.  I couldn't imagine my life with anyone else.

Year 2 of marriage was good to us.  I got a new job in August and moved up to the County Administrator's Office.  You earned a coveted internship in the Strength and Conditioning Department for UWF.  You graduated UWF in December with a Bachelor's Degree in Sports Medicine.  We moved to the beach in October!  Who would have thought that would have been possible?!  (I've enjoyed our sunset watching days on our back patio, but I'm still waiting for you to take me to see the dolphins!) You started a new job on the Navy Base as a Chiropractic Assistant!  We both were in my brother's wedding in March. (You look so handsome in a tux.)  Watched the Pensacola Ice Flyers win the Finals in April.  And we just celebrated our anniversary a week early in Disney World!  (Wonderful trip despite our guest Tropical Storm Andrea.) We've spent time going to movies, going to the beach, working out, eating at our favorite restaurants, hanging out with family and friends, going on trips, and going to church.  I can't wait to see what Year 3 brings us!

This upcoming year I want so much for us.  I'm excited to start a new devotional together and see how that helps us to grow in the Lord and love each other even more.  I'm also excited to start planning and saving for a house.  Excited doesn't even cover it when I think about the next stages of life that we're starting to plan for!  I'm excited to get a new car!  We've got a trip in the works to go to Montana for a week of snowmobiling, skiing, snow boarding, and sledding.  We've also got a trip in the works to go back to Orlando sometime next year for a family trip to Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios!  I can't wait to see what's in store for us!

Ethan,  I love you and I thank God that He sent you to be in my life.  That God saw it fit for me to be your Bride.  You mean the world to me, Lovebug.  I can't say it enough. <3 your wife

P90X Day 1

So here we go again with the P90X Day 1.. I'm pretty sure I have about 8 other blog titles like this one.  *This* time me and Ethan are in it together with no extra workouts (he was getting up at 4:15 for a few weeks to workout on base with a co-worker and was exhausted and didn't want to work out with me when the time came, thus I'd skip my workout) and 100% dedication.  We've done this before and it works out as long as you have a partner-in-crime!  Starting Monday, June 10, Day 90 will be September 7, 2013!

After our glutton-fest 2013 on our trip last week, we're both pretty happy about eating right.  I have gallbladder issues that have returned since I haven't been eating right, and I know from past experience that if/and when I eat right, I have no problems.

Day 1 for the diet went really well for me!  I ate clean and healthy and didn't cheat one time!  I didn't drink nearly enough water, but that's always a challenge for me.  I'm just not a big drinker.  Call me crazy, but this time I'm really getting in shape to prepare my body for a baby.  No, we're not thinking about starting a family just yet, but I've been reading another blog and I'm surprised how great her pregnancy was and all because she was super healthy/in shape when she got pregnant.  I'm contemplating getting a ball to sit on at work to help strengthen my core.. wonder how the boss would feel about that?!

I love this little piece of motivation.  I know the only thing in my way is ME!  If I just get out of my way I can accomplish soo much!  I've got big goals and dreams! Let's go!

I'll share pics again when I have a Day 30 pic to compare it with!  I'll also post my stats with their comparisons for Day 30!  Here's to another 90 Days!!

Disney Trip 2013

Well here it is Sunday night after a wonderful trip to Disney.. I'm so sad to say goodbye to such a great little trip, but very excited to start hardcore dieting/exercising again tomorrow. (Yea, I know, if you had a dollar for every time I said I was going to get in shape again.. ha!) But for real, this time me and E are in this together so teamwork is definitely the way to go!  But now on to our Disney trip!!

Went to work at 6:45 a.m. on Wednesday so I could flex the time and only use a couple hours of leave on Wednesday.  We hit the road around 11:30 and got in around 8:30, that's pretty long for us, but we had Tropical Storm Andrea weather to drive with.  It would happen that we have the 1st Tropical Storm of the season when we have a trip planned!  Oh well, we watched the path of the storm and decided that no matter what as long as Disney was open, we would go! We stayed at Mystic Dunes (same place we stayed on our honeymoon.. awe!) and it was great!  A 1-bedroom villa was only $55/night! Hello, bargain hunting! AND it had a hot tub IN our room!! ;) We hit up Red Lobster for dinner, watched the last quarter of the Heat v. Spurs in Game 1, and called it a night!

{Our Gorgeous Weather - Day 1}

{Selfie in front of the Castle}

{Take 2 in front of the Castle, thanks to a stranger! Also, they say the camera adds 10 lbs., a poncho adds 10 more..}

Thursday morning we woke up to rain.. Boo!  It basically rained all day, but cleared up just in time for us to enjoy the Electrical Parade and fireworks at night!  We went to Magic Kingdom and Epcot that day.  We met up with Bro. Don, Ms. Tina, Sarah, Mandy, Jason, Felicity, and Cole.  It was so much fun being about to be with all of them!  I hated that my parents and sister had to miss out!  We'll have to definitely plan another trip for next summer.  Anywho, we split from the Neese clan around lunchtime to head over to Epcot for some pizza in Italy.  I had been told by my boss that it's seriously the best pizza you'll ever have.. she was definitely on to something!

{We destroyed that pizza!  Super delish!!}

{Riding Aladdin with Sarah-Boo}

{Go-karts with my Love}

We headed back to the Magic Kingdom after walking around Epcot some and riding some of the rides.  We need to go back to have the nachos in Mexico (also recommended by my boss).  The new lightshow on the Castle is really cool!  They play all different types of Disney movies ON the Castle, like it was a huge castle-shaped projector!

{Cheshire Cat}

{Cinderella's Castle}

We definitely got our money's worth on Thursday.  We got there about 10 a.m. and stayed till 11 p.m.!!  I told E I can't wait to have kids and bring them back because he doesn't want to do any of the "little kid" rides like Dumbo or the Tea Cups!!  I mean what better excuse to meet the all the Disney Princesses than to "take my daughter.." Ha!

Friday's weather was not rainy, but it was HOT!  Mandy said Thursday felt like a nice February day, and Friday felt like July.  She couldn't have been more right!  We started our day at Animal Kingdom, which happens to be my favorite park! As soon as we got there, we ran over to Mt. Everest to ride.  Ended up riding as single riders because that wait time was only 15 minutes compared to 60 to ride together!  After that we met up with the Neese Clan and hung out with them basically all day till 5!  We went on the Safari Ride and had lunch at Rainforest CafĂ©.  I got a super yummy chicken lasagna and E got Mojo ribs.

After saying our good-byes around 5, me and E headed over to Hollywood Studios, which was basically a waste because E was so tired by then and he did not want to be there.  He's not one to stand in line for a long time, he'd rather just not ride it!  I'm sooo the opposite, we paid money to be there, we WILL be there from sun-up to sun-down!  Anyways, we lucked out walking to Rockin' Rollercoaster, some lady and her daughter gave us 2 fast passes to ride!  Which was awesome because the wait was over an hour!  Thanks random strangers!! Since forever I've wanted to get a caricature done, so me and E headed over to find the guy doing them in Hollywood Studios.. only problem is that he only did side-profile looks! Which was NOT what I wanted.. soooo we headed back to Animal Kingdom. E was not happy with me.. :( Sorry!  I wasn't about to pay $50 for something I didn't want!  Once we got back to the park and found the guy that did caricatures it was better.  The guy was super funny and it was kind of relaxing sitting there while he drew us!  I don't think the caricature of me is very accurate.. maybe it's the nose or something, but I'm not sold that "she" looks like me.  I think Ethan's looks decent.  The guy definitely nailed his sleepy eyes!

{Our caricature!}

Saturday was a bummy day and we slept in till almost noon!  Got ready and headed over to the Mall at Millennia!  We had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory for the 1st time and it was super yummy!  The cool thing was that we were too full to get dessert and I mean you CAN'T got to Cheesecake Factory and NOT get cheesecake, so I asked our server if it was possible to come back later and get one to go and he said yes and that our ticket had a code for $10 off your next visit, so we got a slice of Reese's Peanut Butter Cheesecake and Lemoncello for $6!  I love a good deal! I spent a good bit of time walking off my lunch in their huge Forever 21! Man I wish we had one of those in P'cola!  We also visited Dick's Sporting Goods and Ikea! (Also really wish we had an Ikea close to us!) Me and E decided when we build a home, we're going to have Ikea do the kitchen and living room!

Sunday was, of course, a sad day because we had to travel home.  We did pretty good timing considering it rained the last 2 hours of the drive home.  We got home around 2 and E took a nice nap while I chilled in the chair.  He woke up hungry around 5, we went healthy-food grocery shopping, and got Papa's pizza and brownies to go! (Hey, we have 1 more day of eating crappy and then it's go time!)  Right now we're watching Game 2 of Heat v. Spurs. (GO Heat!!) Tomorrow is work AND it's a Board meeting day, so I'll be there pretty late.  Welcome back to work for me! Ha!  We had a ton of fun, but I'm definitely glad to be home! (I missed my boys wayyyy to much! Crazy cat lady much?!)  Tomorrow I'll post Day 1 pics of me and set some goals, but as for now.. there's some fudgey chocolate peanut butter brownies calling my name! ;)

May's Birchbox

I was pretty impressed with my May Birchbox.  I don't think it was necessarily "themed" but the majority of my stuff was for hair, but I'm pretty sure on my profile on their website I said I like hair stuff best.  I've also learned that everyone's box is different.  I know a few people that get them and we all had different stuff, give or take a couple duplicate items.

This blueberry scented shave cream was probably my least favorite item.  The cream didn't latter up and had the consistency of conditioner.  I've shaved with conditioner before in a pinch, but I feel like it's not as smooth of a shave as my normal Target brand shaving (gel) cream.  The blueberry scent was okay.. not something I'd always like to smell like either.
This hair mask was the bomb.com!  It smelled amazing and left my hair smooth, silky, and shiny!  If anything, I'd actually buy the full-size version of this bad boy!
My Birchbox also came with a complimenting hair oil for the previously mentioned (and raved-about) hair mask.  I still haven't opened this because I'm still using the Ojon oil from April's Box.. I'm sure I'll get around to it!
Fabulous by Isaac Mizrahi is a yummy smelling perfume.  Very fruity, floral, and girly, but again.. I'm not a perfume person, so after smelling this and realizing it's probably too strong of a scent for my sensitive little self.. I gave the sample to Alexis.  I know she'll enjoy it more than I would!

I was pretty pumped to see some CC cream in the box.  I use BB cream and really didn't know the difference, but wanted to try them.  BB stands for "beautifying beads" and is a light, whipped foundation that offers just enough coverage without being thick.  CC cream stands for "color correcting" and while I feel like all my flaws were in fact "color corrected" I also felt like I had primer on my face.  It was thick and sticky... so not my foundation style.

This little beauty was probably my second favorite out of the bunch.  It's a hair detangler and it smells uh-maze-ing!  It did leave my hair slightly greasy if I used too much, so I don't think I'll switch over from my usual "It's a 10" hair detangler product, but it was worth trying out.

So there ya go, my 2nd Birchbox and I am more thrilled than ever to get my June box!! :)

My 1st Birchbox - April

I don't remember how I discovered Birchbox, but I do know I've wanted to subscribe to it for awhile now!  I told myself that once Ethan got a job that would be the first thing I ordered for myself!  It's only $10 a month and comes packed full of deluxe beauty samples.  It was very fun getting something in the mail and it being a "surprise inside" kind of deal!

My April Birchbox
This month's box was done in collaboration with Women's Health Magazine, so all the products were health-related.  I wonder if every both has a "theme"?
I was most excited to see Ojon Rare Blend Oil Total hair Therapy in the box!  I've always wanted to try this, but at $X a bottle, I didn't want full-size and then hate it..

This lipstick/cheek stain is fun.  The color is a little bright pink and I don't wear lipstick often so I think this will turn out to be a fun night out kind of treat for me.
This little beauty caught me by surprise.  I'm very sensitive to perfumes, so I guess you could say I was a little sad to see one of the samples to be a scent.  I was completely wrong about this one.  I'd say it's a perfect summer scent.  It has an orange scent that's light and delicate.  Definitely not overwhelming at all!

To wrap things up, my box also had a postcard and voucher for a free year's subscription to Women's Health!  I'm pretty excited about the magazine and even better that it was free!  My May Birchbox should be coming soon and I can't wait to see what's in store!

Weekend Fun

So I didn't take any pictures this weekend, but that shouldn't stop me from remembering my awesomely fun weekend right?!

It was the longest short week at work.. We had Memorial Day off and then I also took that Tuesday off so there's not quite anything like coming back to work after an amazing 4 days off in the sun.  Not to mention it was a proofing week.  Nice, short, and hectic.. please add sarcasm when read. Ha!  Anyways, I survived and Friday night came just as expected!

Friday night me and E headed over to the mall.  Looked around, didn't buy anything, and had dinner at Panera Bread.  My absolute favorite salad is back for the summer so naturally that's what I had!  Hello Summer Salad with strawberries, mandarin oranges, blueberries, and pineapple! And hello 350 calories for the entire gigantic thing!  After the mall and dinner we headed back home and watched the last three episodes of Dexter - Season 7!  Ahhhhh!! Can't wait for Season 8 to start!!

Saturday morning we woke up around 10:30 to nasty clouds.. Boo! No fun when you live at the beach!  We decided to catch brunch and a matinee.  (Of course by the time we were ready to leave the clouds had left and it was a perfectly sunny little day.. oh well!)  We had breakfast at Denny's and saw the new Star Trek: Into the Darkness. It was good, but I'm just not a movie-goer.  I'd rather watch a movie in the comfort of my own home.  After that we headed over to Taylor and Colin's for Game 6 of the Heat v. Pacers.  Wouldn't ya know that the Heat lost and now there's got to be a Game 7... which is tonight, so I know what me and E will be doing! All the couples brought stuff for a taco bar which was really fun and yummy!

Sunday was church and then we came home to hang out with the Howells and the Cunninghams.  It was a perfect beach day!  No clouds, light medium breeze, and lots of tanning oil!  The boys took the wave runner to the sandbar and played ultimate frisbee and later volleyball.  After the boys were done being active, we had dinner at Peg Leg Pete's.  We came up with a great idea to start a restaurant called Stick Leg Stan's and charge $1 less than Peg Leg Pete's.  Same menu, same atmosphere, just $1 cheaper.. we think this idea could really take off!  Haha!

But now, today is Monday, BUT me and E are leaving for Disneyworld on Wednesday so YAY for ANOTHER short, awesome week!!
