My Weekend in Pictures*

* This is my sad attempt at "my weekend in pictures."  One - I realize I need to get a better camera than just my crappy iPhone 4.  Two - I need to actually remember to take said pictures, crappy cellphone or not.

Weekend started off with Me, Ethan, Mom, Alexis, Hannah, and Lauren eating dinner at Cactus Flower.  Taylor was right, it is fancy Mexican food and pretty dang expensive.
I think I prefer Vallartes any day of the week.

Hannah and Lauren wanted to be tourists and get their picture taken at the big shell.
So naturally I took the opportunity to make Ethan take a picture with me.

*Insert cute picture of all the girls in our PJs, making cookies, painting our nails, and eating ice cream while watching a movie.

*Saturday morning - insert cute picture of us sipping coffee on the balcony.

When we finally decided to head to the beach, there was a Crossfit competition going on in the parking lot.  Pretty cool considering I actually knew what Crossfit was.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day!

Hannah got to surf.  We played in the water and threw baby jellyfish at each other.

There was even live entertainment - apparently hula-hooping is making its comeback?

After we had gotten our fill of Vitamin D, we headed inside to watch the FSU game!
We won! 4-0 Baby!

Jinx took the opportunity to catch some ZZZs while I got ready for the Seafood Festival.

*Insert picture of the yummy sandwich I ate at the Seafood Festival.  Crawfish tails covered in gumbo sauce in a French roll. Super yummy!

*Insert sad face picture of me when we realized that all the booths CLOSE when it gets dark.  What is the point of having the festival open till 11 p.m. if the booths close. Ugh.. I didn't get to look at anything!

Dakota and Alexis ended up spending the night Saturday night.  We rented Side Effects and ate ice cream again. Fatties - Party of 4.

*Insert picture of me and Ethan looking super cute for church.

*Insert picture of me and Ethan enjoying an afternoon together.  Eating lunch on the balcony, walking over to Day 2 of the Beach Brawl, watching the series finale of Dexter (Terrible finale, btw.. just terrible), and then grocery shopping for the week to come!

There you have it.. my lousy attempt at a weekend in pictures.  Maybe next weekend I'll do better! ;)

Would You Look At That.. It's Friday!

All right! Let's get this party started!  I can't even begin to explain how excited I am for the weekend!  It's been one-heck-of-a-week for me and I'm ready to sleep in tomorrow!

Monday was a pull every single strand of hair one-by-by out of your head kind of day.  Super busy, super hectic.  Mondays that we start proofing are always that way.  I even stayed 45 min late because my boss was worried we wouldn't get the Agenda finished.  Spoiler alert: we always do and we did.  Staying late put me in a bad mood that carried over to Bible Study.  I was to the point that I just wanted to go home, but I knew being surrounded by friends, food, and God would cure my foul attitude.  I was right and it did.

Tuesday we had a Board Meeting and I ended up staying till 8 p.m. By then I was thinking, "holy crap, it's only Tuesday and I've work nearly 4 overtime hours."  It's ok, I get time and a half comp time when I work late.  Those beautiful 4 hours magically turn into 6 hours of leave time.

Wednesday night was church.  Nothing really out of the ordinary there.

Thursday at work we actually finished all our work (big surprise right?!) and got everything signed and ready to be distributed on Friday.  After work I headed over to Kate's house to order a cake for a surprise party I'm helping with.  I'm soo excited about the cake and the cake topper.  It's just too cute!  Oh, and we ordered 2 dozen champagne cupcakes. Heck. To. The. Yes!

Thursday night we went to O'Riley's and played some darts.  We didn't get home till 11 p.m. and I totally felt that this morning.  It's ok, I've been super unproductive on my lunch hour this week forever and have been taking nice, long naps!

This weekend should be awesome!  Tonight we're going to dinner at Cactus Flower, back to O'Riley's to watch Lauren sing, and Saturday my family is coming over for a beach day!  Not to mention we have to throw in the Seafood Festival somewhere in that mix!  I'm going to try my best to do a "My Weekend in Pictures" post on Monday.  I'm just not good at taking photos.

Lately We've Been Feeling Crafty

I'm not really a "crafty" person.  I used to enjoy scrapbooking, but now that everything is digital it's been a looong time since I've scraped.  I do enjoy pinning things on Pinterest, but do I actually every do the DIY thing? No, not really.. BUT lately me and E are actually getting things done!  Here's a taste of what we've been up to! :)

First stop is my "Gallery Wall."  I picked up most of these frames from Hobby Lobby this past week while they were having a 50% off sale!  The framed initials in the top left corner are actually from our wedding!  So happy that I'm actually able to incorporate some wedding decor!  I plan on hanging all these down our obnoxiously long hallway.  I figure if we're going to be staying in the condo for a few more years, then I'd better start decorating it the way I want to!  The empty frame that Jinxy Cat is sitting in will have some string strung through it and I'll use clothespins to clip the pictures to the string.  I want to paint the giant "M" and the clothespins the same blue as the picture on the left.  I love how all of the frames coordinate with each other and was worried when I first wanted to do this that I'd have a hard time finding frames that went well with each other.

Next we have some patio furniture that Ethan's working on now!  This past Saturday he made one of the chairs, but he still needs to sand and stain it.  Ethan said I'm in charge of making the cushions.  Hopefully I can find pillows shaped like they have in the picture and then pick out a fabric I like to recover them.  Not sure if Ethan will be making the coffee table also?

Speaking of coffee tables, this little beauty will be in the works soon!  We just rearranged the living room and our end tables don't really work well with the layout anymore, so I suggested to E that he build me this crate table and make a matching end table.  Ethan loves it, so it'll be in the works after he's done with our patio furniture.

Since this is the same bedding I have in my guest room, I decided that I want to do this paper garland instead of a headboard.  I've already bought the scrapbook paper, but now I've got to use Taylor's cricut to make all those circles.  You've got to be dreaming if you think I'm gonna hand cut all those bad boys!  I'm hoping Mom didn't throw away the gallon of red paint I used to paint the dresser and nightstand with because I'd love to paint the wood that the garland hangs from that same red.  I also found a DIY pillow that looks like the white ones in the back that I'd like to take a stab at! ;)

After two or so years I've finally decided that our door needed a new wreath.  I found the FSU inspired yarn wreath here.  I'd say I did pretty good copying her look.  The felt flowers were kind of difficult, but they turned out decent.  In the instructions, the blogger tells you to sit down with your ball of yarn, the wreath, and a good movie because it does take about 2 hours to fully wrap the thing.  It's time consuming, but I do like the finished product.  I'm also looking to add some sort of FSU logo somewhere just to make it scream F-L-O-R-I-D-A S-T-A-T-E a little more!

Last, but not least, I've decided I need these little beauties somewhere in my house.  I stumbled upon this while searching for decoration for a surprise party we've got in the works.  The instructions look easy enough, but like the felt flowers I did on my FSU wreath, I'm worried they won't look just like the picture.

Well, that completes my craft-inspired post for now.  Maybe once I've done everything I'll do a "where we live" tour!

Just Your Average 3-Day Weekend

Just a quick recap of the weekend ~

Since it was the last pay period to take this year's comp time, I had to take Friday off, which was unexpected to take the whole day and very welcomed!  I spent the day mostly with my mom, going to the beach and shopping at Dirt Cheap.  I was pretty proud of myself for getting out of there only spending $6 on a bed skirt for the guest bedroom!  Friday evening we had dinner with Taylor and Colin, followed by a quick trip to Target to get the new Star Trek movie, and a stop by TCBY for some froyo!

Saturday I slept in while Ethan golfed.  I headed over to Taylor's house around noon to run some errands with her.  I was able to make all my returns to NY&Company without any problems! Thank you, Jesus!  I also made a return to VS and got some workout pants at Old Navy.  Not too shabby to get $25 workout pants for $8! Thank you, 50% off coupon combined with sale item! ;) The rest of Saturday was spent grilling out and watching college football! FSU stomped all over Nevada!  We were invited to go to that game, but since it was a non-conference game at 3:30 in the 90 degree weather, we passed.  Hopefully we'll get to go to another game this year!

Sunday was pretty low-key.  Church, lunch at Ms. Tina's to discuss Camp Grace kitchen duties, and a wonderful nap afterwards.  Night church followed by a little grocery shopping!  It's always hard coming back to work after a nice 3-day weekend, but somehow I always manage! ;) Ha!  This upcoming week should be okay.. I've got a meeting Monday night that will probably last a good bit, but Judy's taking some time off at the end of the week, so I'm pretty pumped about that!

Oh, hey there, Friday!

And another week bites the dust! Here's my High 5 for Friday this week!

1. Monday was Bible Study.  This week was on "Working from the Home" and Taylor hosted it at her house.  She made yummy Taco soup and delicious lava cakes for dessert to celebrate Katie passing her Sephora makeup certification test!!  The discussion on the subject was interesting as all of us are married, no children, and have jobs "outside the home."

2. Tuesday was not a "high" day.  It was actually probably the crappiest day I've had in awhile.  Started off early in the morning with the *brand-spankin'-new* dress I had JUST bought for $70 at NY&Company (ok, I didn't really spend that much because I had coupons and such.. but that was the ticket price) broke!  The zipper completely busted and skipped and left a gaping hole in the side. Ugh, double ugh.  It was just super annoying that I had spend that much on the dress just to have it break. Quality stuff right there.  Whatever, I find something else to wear and decide to wear my new patent black wedges from NY&Company.  At least I got to wear one of my new purchases, right?! Well half-way through the morning the right shoe is KILLING my foot.  I thought maybe I just ate too much yummy soup the night before and was swollen.. WRONG! The shoe was an entire size different from the left.  Yup, that's right!  My left shoe was a Size 9, my right a Size 8.  Mind you, I wear a 9, so my poor foot was crammed in that shoe all day.  Top it off, it was a Board Meeting night, plus Distribution day, plus just a busy-all-around kind of day.  It was a terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad day.

3. On Wednesday I headed home right after work.  It was nice to have that break in the middle of the week.  We normally go to church Wednesday night, but I was tired and wanted to just go home.  I ended up using my new Nike+ Run App on my iPhone and it was AWESOME!  I totally recommend that app!  Ethan went with me about 7 p.m. and I told him we were finally "those beach people" who run and actually take advantage of being outside!

4. Thursday was actually my Friday and that was won.der.ful!  We went to the Jerry's for dinner and went to O'Rilley's afterwards and met up with the gang.

{Downtown @ the Food Trucks}

5. I was off on Friday and that too was won.der.ful! ;) I went to the beach with my Mom, shopped a little in the afternoon, made cupcakes, and had dinner at TGIFridays and got FroYo with the Howells.  We bought the new Star Trek movie and watched that at home after dinner.  A perfect little surprise day off!

After this week.. I NEED a high five for Friday!

Let's just say this 4-day week at work was cray-cray.  I've always loved having a Monday off, but this week I truly felt like I had to shove 5-days worth of work into 4.  But that's just basically how September will be for my office.  We've got 4 night time meetings and 1 daytime meeting this month, which means, 5 meeting days, 5 deadline days, 5 distribution days, and proofing those Agendas in between.  I'm not complaining.  I enjoy being this busy, makes the days go by sooo fast!  But let's get to what we're really here for..

1. Monday started FSU football!! Can I get a woot-woot!?  Top it off, our QB is lookin' gooood and we got the first win of the season!

2. I've been super consistent with working out and it's starting to pay off!  I'm 2 lbs lighter this Friday than I was last Friday!

3. This one is very bittersweet for me.  Ethan has decided he wants to go back to school for PTA.  I think this is an incredible decision and I'm so happy that he will be working in the field he wants and will have that feeling of fulfillment that a job you love can give.  On the other hand, it's going to push back some plans we had and that makes me sad.  It's for the best for our future that he get this extra schooling and I know it'll be worth it all in the end.  I just have to keep reminding myself of the outcome when I get in a mood.

4. Officially booked our room for our trip to New Orleans in October! So so excited!  I've never been to NO and I'm ready to stuff myself on beignets at Cafe Du Monde!!  Instagram, watch out because I'll be blowing up the news feed! ;)

5. Tonight we're having dinner with my Grandparents for Ethan's birthday! I'm so excited to see them and I love spending time with them!

That's it for now, I'll let you know how my weekend goes later!

Labor Day Weekend

It's so nice having a 3-day weekend.  Come Sunday night, you're like woo-hoo another day off! My 3-day weekend started Friday night at Aunt Tracee's "Swap Party."  Basically it's a free garage sale where you bring 15 items and everyone else brings 15 items and you take turns swapping your stuff.  I got some pretty good stuff!  A Chi curling iron, a couple books, a couple costume jewelry rings, and a foot scrubber.  Ethan thought the foot scrubber was pretty disgusting, but it was 100% new and still wrapped!  I did walk away with some fabulous party dresses!  Check these out! ;)

Saturday me and Ethan cleaned the house pretty good and then headed to lunch at Another Broken Egg Cafe.  He got some kind of omelet scramble and I got the spinach salad.  My fancy taste buds LOVE this salad.  It's spinach topped with bacon, mushroom, pecans, goat cheese, and a garlic balsamic dressing. Mmm mmm mmm!  After that we headed over to Taylor's house so the boys could watch some football.  Florida State didn't play until Monday night, so I was not interested in the Saturday games.  Taylor and I went shopping instead.  I hit up NY&Company's "Buy One, Get One Free Pants" sale.  Ended up getting 4 new pairs of pants!  I'm really trying to update my work look.  I want to be taken seriously if I'm ever to be considered for my boss' job.

Sunday was a normal church day.  Went to church, ate lunch with my family, took a nap, returned to church.  The only thing out of the ordinary was this special herbal tea I took that's supposed to be slimming.  I'll let you read between the lines there.  Let's just say that bad boy hit me about 10:30 and I was miserable until 2 am.

Monday we had Sarah and Emily's families over to celebrate Ethan's and Sarah's birthdays.  The weather was kind of crappy, so we didn't really do much but eat and watch a movie.  The kids swam some, but nothing crazy.  Emily brought cake pops and they were to die for.  I ate three, which I regretted when I was super nauseated, but an awesome nap on the couch totally cured that!  Once they left, we headed over to Taylor's house to watch FSU play!! We totally stomped Pitt 41-13 and our freshman quarterback is lookin' goooood!! Watch out for Famous Jameis!!

It was such a good relaxing 3-day weekend.  Our next vacation is scheduled for the beginning of October when we go to New Orleans! I am sooo excited about that!  I've never been and I am dying to eat at Cafe du Monde!  Busy week at work since we have a Board Meeting, but I'm sure it will just fly by!
