Ba Da Bum Ba Ba I'm Loving It Friday Style

I hope McDonald's doesn't call me for copyright infringement. That could get awkward..

So it's Friday!  Can I get a hallelujah?! Although my weekend isn't looking as "sunny and 75" as I'd like it to be, I'll take highs in the 60s over Ice Storm Titan that the North is experiencing.. Yuck!

This past week was busy and slow at the same time. Case and point, I woke up Wednesday pumped that it was Thursday. Yea, that's no bueno.

One. Monday we celebrated Stephanie and Baby Emma!  The baby shower was a huge success and Stephanie got some great stuff for Baby E! I'm pretty sure that little girl will be rockin' two different dresses every Sunday just so she can rotate through them before she grows out of them! (I also made a deal with Stephanie that I get dibs on which dresses she'll "save" for my future little one! Score!)

Two. Caught these two gettin' their snuggle on.. how sweet are my boys?

Three. If I don't fit into my new bikini when it gets here, Birthday Cake-flavored M&M's are totally to blame. I suggest not buying these (or buy them all because they're delicious and I'm not sure if they're limited edition). Regardless, my sweet tooth has been extra sweet this week. Thanks, Mother Nature.

Four. I have been a total ShopKick addict these days.  I can't help it if the Almond Milk at Walmart is 100 kicks.. I'm going to stop to scan it! I briefly contemplated buying it so I could just scan it at home, but figured if I bought the $3 half gallon, that totally canceled out the money savings.  If you don't know what I'm talking about, ShopKick is an app that allows you to scan certain items for points ("kicks") and you can trade-in those kicks for giftcards.  I just got a $35 gift card to Aerie for free just this week! To find out more about Shopkick and to join, go here ---->

{Use that link and you'll recieve 50 kicks to get you started!!}

Five. I got super motivated (again) about saving up for my new car! I'm about 99.9% sure this baby will be my new ride come July!  Ahh! So pretty! I need to print a picture of it and hang it on the wall to remind myself of our goal!

Today is "Blue Friday" for Shopkick, so I know me and Ethan will be out and about collecting kicks! Heads up, if you live local, you can get an easy 1,000 kicks just for walking in JCP, American Eagle, Best Buy, Old Navy, and Target! So easy and so worth it!!

Stephanie's Baby Shower

Last night we had fun celebrating the upcoming arrival of Emma!  The ladies from our church get together once a month and this month was used to celebrate Stephanie and Emma!

My mom and sister-in-law did a fabulous job decorating for the shower!

{Cute little onesies hanging}

Stephanie was so sweet. When she walked and looked around, she immediately started crying. A baby is something she and her husband have wanted for a couple years now, so it's encouraging to see their dreams finally coming true.  Our church has been praying so long and so hard for this sweet couple and their growing family!

{For I am fearfully and wonderfully made}

{Cake by Ms. Larren}

The food was yummy and I definitely pigged out!  How can you say no to Chick-Fil-A nuggets and Polynesian sauce?!

{Baby girl got sooo many cute dresses!}

Miss Emma Hope is expected to arrive April 26 this year. (I really don't think she'll make it that long.. I'm predicting a March 31 baby!) I can't wait to meet this precious little girl and watch her parents love her to pieces!

Social Butterflies

Ethan and I normally do a lot of nothing on the weekends that normally just include me and him.  This past weekend I was so proud of us!  We actually went out both nights and with different people! lol

Friday night after work we went to Josh's baseball game. He plays for Northview and used to play for Tate so we thought the "rivalry" game would be fun to go to.  We had fun. Ethan sat by Kenneth and talked about who knows what, but at least they had a good time.  I spent my time switching from sitting with Ethan, to Lindsay and Seana, to my Mom, and Hannah and Alexia. Josh's team ended up losing pretty bad, but it was still fun.

After we got kicked out of the field for staying to late, me, Ethan, Kenneth & Lindsey, Matt & Seana and their girls all headed over to Wendy's for a late-night snack.  Alexia got a charades game in her kid's meal so she kept us entertained with guessing what she was pretending to be.  After we got kicked out of Wendy's for staying to late, we all stood outside for probably another 30 minutes just talking. We all had such a good time and I hope we do it again soon! Just minus getting kicked out of all the places! haha

I'm pretty sure Ethan used some reverse psychology on me for Saturday morning. He had an early tee-time and I had some errands I wanted to run before he got home.  I told him all of what I needed to do and he says, "I guarantee you'll still be in bed by the time I come home." Well, I showed him (or he reverse psychology showed me) and I got everything done and was back home by 11:30.  This included, but is not limited by - going to Target to get a baby shower gift and do some shopkicking, going to the mall to make a return and get my shopkick walk-ins, going tanning, running by CVS for some shopkicks, and stopping by Walmart to (you guessed it..) get some more shopkicks. #someoneneedsshopkickrehab

I made it home in time to get some laundry done and take out all the trash.  Nothing like replacing all your scentsy with fresh, spring-smelling scents! Warm weather is so close I can taste smell it! Taylor came over some laying out around noonish.  It was gorgeous outside and I defnintely got a little toasty!  Guess it's not a good idea to hit up the tanning bed and the sunshine all in one day with your pasty, milky winter skin!

{Hello, old friend}

Saturday night we went to the Grand Marlin with some of Ethan's coworkers and their wives. The Grand Marlin has THE best raw oysters!  I can't wait to go back before oysters are out of season!  We had a good time and just sat around eating, drinking, and talking. This was one of the rare times where I enjoy living on the beach, going home only took a couple minutes, which was good because we were both zapped from the long day!  I definitely slept like a baby Saturday night!

Sunday morning Ethan stayed home from church because he wasn't feeling well.  I ended up going by myself and ate Sunday lunch with my parents.  I helped mom make shrimp creole and I'm pretty sure I could make it by myself!  I also helped decorate for Stephanie's baby shower. I headed home around 3ish, and of course, stopped by CVS and Walmart to get some kicks.. addicted is an understatement.

BUT all my kicks finally earned me something!! Taylor sent me a coupon link for a free swimsuit bottom when you buy a top, well.. I used my kicks to get a free $35 gift card to Aerie and got a super cute swimsuit for only $2.50ish!  Not bad getting a $60ish bathing suit for less than $3 brand-spankin-new!  I was sad to see my number of kicks drop, but I'm sure with my addiction I'll replace them in no time!  I even got some people to join Shopkick just by posting a picture of my new bikini!

{my new suit!}

I can't wait for my bathing suit to be delivered! It should be here by the end of the week! (I really hope it fits lol.. bathing suit shopping online is hard!) Maybe I'll get it by next Saturday so I can lay out in it next weekend!  Ah.. just dreaming of weekends on a Monday! Haha!

What I'm Loving This Friday

What I'm lovin' about this past week!

1. Monday was a holiday, so yay for 3-day weekend, and only 4-day work week! Taylor came over and we broke out the 'ole swimsuits and "tanned." We were pretty successful because later that day at the mall we both noticed that each other's chest were a bit burnt! Yay for sunburns! We had a good time laying out, shopping, eating at Red Robin (Yummm!), and then watching a movie at her house!

2. Tuesday we had a Board Meeting and I actually sat up at the dais with the Commissioners and helped run the meeting. The morning session I actually go over the Agenda with the Commissioners and in the evening I time the speakers and run the voting machine. I was told I did a great job, so yay me! :)

3. My poor Ethan is feeling a bit under the weather so I made him some homemade chicken noodle soup! If there's anything I can cook, it's soup! Hope it makes my Love feel better!

{Chicken noodle soup with a soda on the side}

4. Got my invite for my Nanner's wedding!! Isn't it the cutest?!

5. I was feeling a little creative so I updated our chalkboard.  I'm no Little Baby Garvin, but I like how it turned out! I was going to go for a St. Patty's Day theme, but I quickly realized I really suck at drawing shamrocks!

Bonus!  Here's my Jer lookin' all cute and cuddly! :)

This weekend I'm looking forward to going to one of Josh's 1st high school baseball games! The weather's supposed to suck this weekend, so I won't be laying out again, but maybe the gross weather will inspire me to get a little more spring cleaning done!  I've got a closet full of clothes I don't wear and a shower in desperate need of a good scrubbin'!

By the way, I'm linked up with Simply Lulu Style. Check out here blog ---> here!

Woohoo! Go Us!

So Ethan and I met a major financial goal this week! We paid off one of our credit cards!
We are now one step closer to getting me a new car! Woohoo! Thank you, Dave Ramsey and your "snowball" method!  If you don't know what I'm talking about, check it out here!

This year marks mine and Ethan's 9th Valentine's Day together! I really don't feel old enough to be able to say that..
Since Valentine's Day was on a Friday, me and Ethan exchanged cards right before work.  We had agreed no presents since we're trying to save up to buy me a car, but Ethan surprised me with chocolate-covered strawberries! I mean, if you're going to not follow the rules you might as well break them with chocolate-covered strawberries ;)
After work we headed out for our special Valentine's dinner at Ruth's Chris in Mobile!  We ate at Ruth's Chris on our honeymoon and it was delicious! Dinner was supposed to be a secret but (like I always do) I guessed where we were going!
We ended up leaving our house 2 hours before our reservation and I'm so glad we did! The main tunnel in Mobile was shut down due to Mardi Gras so we took a more scenic and much longer route! We did still make it with plenty of time to spare!

Once inside we were seated and handed their leather bound menu. Everything looked so good, but in the end I knew I was getting steak, no matter how tempting their chicken or pork medallions looked!

We ordered their featured appetizer for the night which were crab-stuffed, fried jalapenos, served with a spicy dipping sauce! Holy cow! I could've made a meal out of that!

I also ordered their featured pomegranate martini. It was so good!  I asked Ethan if it would be inappropriate in a nice restaurant to finish licking the sugar of the rim! Haha!

I ordered "Ruth's Classic" which is a fillet and lobster tail, served with a side of mashed potatoes, and a Cesar salad.  Ethan got a rib eye with a side of asparagus.  Of course I was nice enough to let him have some lobster! ;)

We shared a piece of chocolate cake for dessert! Isn't he the sweetest!? :)

After dinner we really wished we would have splurged and got a room in Mobile for the night because we were both so full that the hour and a half drive home did not sound appealing. But, we did power through and made it home!

Ethan, thank you for another amazing Valentine's Day.  I know you don't need a "set" day to make me feel loved, but I'm so thankful that you take the time to make sure I am.  You're the best Valentine a girl could ask for! We've got 9 Valentine's Days down and about 100 to go! ;)  I love you! xoxo

High Five for Friday

Another week to go down in the books.. er, um.. blog. It was a good week and I can't believe it's already Friday again! My "highs" for the week are going to jump around and not make sense, so don't judge. You'll see what I mean by the end ;)

1. Diet is going good! It's been 2 weeks since I've "officially" gotten back on track and I've lost 3 pounds! I'm really hoping working hard to lose 10 more pounds by my friend's wedding in March. I've got a month, so let's see what I can do!

2. Lately Jinx has decided that Ethan is his cuddle buddy, which basically breaks me heart. Not gonna lie. Jerry seems to be the only one that will cuddle with me. Like crawl up in my lap with no prompting kind of cuddle, the same way Jinx does Ethan.  BUT I think I've figured out why this is.. See, Ethan is warm-natured, while I'm cold-natured. Jinx is skinny, while Jer Bear is fat. Jinx needs the warmth from Ethan, while Jerry doesn't need the extra warmth and can cuddle with my cold-bodied self!  It's my theory and I'm sticking to it!  It's not that Jinx loves Ethan more, it's that he's using Ethan for his warmth. Totally don't blame him there.

3. Monday night Ethan convinced me to go on a run. Like a real run outside and not on my "comfort-zone" treadmill. The cool breeze was refreshing and the mile run down to the cross on the beach was actually nice. We walked back home and it was so nice to just talk to each other with no distractions. No cell phones, no tablet, no TV. Just me & him :)

4. Wednesday night started revival at our church with Pastor Jack Tripp. I enjoyed his sermon and felt like God was speaking to me. Brother Tripp preached from Psalm 69, which is a Chapter where David is complaining to God. The message was titled, "God Gives Back What He Didn't Take." Basically, God is the only one that can restore to you what he didn't take from you. Meaning - you've lost your joy? God didn't take your joy away, but he'll restore what Satan stole from you. You've let life take your fire and zeal for God away, well, spoiler alert.. God can restore your fire and zeal for Him! He's that amazing of a God that He can restore unto you anything that Satan has stolen from you.  All you have to do is ask!

5. Today is Valentine's Day which means my diet is kinda officially "off" for the day.. I know, I know. All my progress, those 3 pounds! Well.. Ethan surprised me with chocolate-covered strawberries this morning, I got goodies from my coworkers at work, my boss brought in the cutest (and yummiest) heart-shaped donuts from Krispy Kreme this morning, and Ethan and I are planning one-heck-of-a cheat meal tonight at Ruth's Chris.  I'll get back on it tomorrow.. #YOLO (See.. jumping from Diet Queen to Fats McFatty lol)

That's all for now.. So, here's to the weekend and some sunshine that's coming our way!

My Weekend in Pictures

I did a surprisingly good job at remembering to take pictures of my weekend.  Next time I decide to do this little "challenge" for myself, I'm going to use my actual camera and not my cell phone.

Friday night we did what we always do and went to the mall.. big shocker, I know.  Me and Ethan are one mall-loving couple.  We ate dinner at Panera Bread, walked around the mall for a couple hours, then headed over to Target to get a few necessities for me.

Once we got home, we watched "The Croods."  Pretty cute movie, Ethan fell asleep within the first 20 minutes, but it made me laugh and tear up a couple times.

Saturday morning I had my 1st ever massage and my life will forever be changed. I even told Ethan that I would 100% prefer to have a massage and spend $35 than spend that on a pedicure. There's just some things you can do yourself, and well.. a massage is not one of them. I had basically a full-body massage which included my back, neck, arms, legs, and feet. Pure. Heaven. Not going to lie, I was pretty freaked out about my masseuse being a guy, but I kept telling myself that he wasn't some random stranger, he's actually trained in the art. I've had some problems with my left shoulder for a few weeks and he immediately noticed that and was able to work out most of the knot. God bless him. After the hour I felt like complete jelly and was completely ready to have another massage. Reminders for myself for the next time. (1) Don't "do" your hair. With the next massage the oil gets all up in your hair. Throw that junk in a ponytail. (2) Same goes with makeup. I had raccoon eyes to my chin. (3) Skip the "leg" portion and just focus on the back and feet. The neck and arms were nice, but the legs really didn't do anything for me.

I met Mom at Firehouse Subs for lunch and caught up with her. Afterwards we killed some time in Target doing a little Shop Kickin'. I admit.. I'm a bit obsessed with the app. Laugh all you want, but when I'm carrying my new Coach purse I "bought" using Shop Kicks, we'll see who's laughing then.

Saturday afternoon was a bridal shower for my longtime friend, Savannah!  I can't wait to watch her walk down the aisle to the man of her dreams in March.

While at the shower I got some baby snuggles from this guy.  Don't mind the pouty lip, he's just upset he can't marry Savannah.

Saturday night was spent having dinner with Ethan's family. It's so nice to catch up with everyone and see the kiddos. I took a couple pictures of Niko and Lucy, but they were too busy jumping on the couch to let me take a real picture, so all I have are blurry ones. Hence the "real" camera next time. I think Niko is having trouble remembering who I am with my constant need to change my hairstyle. When I walked in the den where he was he looks at me with a big smile on his face and goes "Hey! Kay.. wait.. what's you name again?" I told him and he goes "oh yea, hey Katie!" and gave me a big hug.

Sunday was an absolutely gorgeous day!

Ethan made a new friend in church. Lily decided she needed to sit in Ethan's lap during song service. Most precious thing ever! I can't wait for him to be a Dad!

After church we met up with some of Ethan's coworkers for lunch at Red Fish Blue Fish. Since it was such a gorgeous day we sat outside.  Ethan got fish tacos and I got Mexican-style tacos. It was okay, I'd go back but only to order something different to give the restaurant another try.

Since RFBF is in our backyard, we went back home and this happened. (See below.) My 1st "beach" day of the year AND I even got a little bit sun kissed. Ahh... feels good. Oh, February, you're such a tease. Snow storm one week, sunburn next week.

Late Sunday afternoon was spend getting kitty snuggles on the couch. Love my boys.

We didn't end up going back to church for the night service. We went grocery shopping for the week and watched some more of the winter Olympics. I had a true dinner of champions.

So to sum up my weekend - Family, friends, food & sun. And in other words perfection.

PTA School

This week has marked some big steps for the Macarthur family.  Ethan's application to Physical Therapy School has been signed, sealed, and delivered. Weeks ahead of the March deadline, might I add, so way to go Ethan!

He's gotten all his observation hours logged and submitted, as well as recommendation letters, one most notably from one of our Commissioners sent straight to the college's President.

But now the fun part. The part where we wait until May to see if he was accepted for the upcoming fall semester. We're crossing all fingers and toes over here. Not to mention prayer, which is a huge part of this, as we both want God's will for our lives. I'm not going to lie. Praying God's will over your life is hard. Especially when you know how you'd like things to turn out.

Here's a couple verses I'm clinging to right now -

Proverbs 3: 5-6
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

So here's to being patient and waiting without worrying.  I'll try my best here, but I can't make any promises! I'll be updating as soon as we find out anything!

High 5 for Friday

Wahoo! I made it through my 1st full week back at work since Christmas!  I even stayed till 8:45 last night due to a Board Meeting.  Needless to say I'm exhausted, but I made it! Here's my High 5 for Friday:

1. I'm loving mixing hot chocolate and coffee together these days. Especially because it's been such a cold winter.

2. This hasn't happened yet, but I'm scheduled for my 1st massage tomorrow! I had purchased a Groupon about 3 months ago for a 60-minute massage for only $19! (Originally $29 and I had a $10 off coupon! Score!) 60 minutes of pure bliss. I can't wait!

3. I got to pick my family up from the airport last Saturday!  My mom, dad, sister, and grandparents left me for over a week to go enjoy the beautiful snow in Montana! I know they had fun, but I am so happy they're all back!

4. I'm excited about Valentine's Day. Ethan has made reservations at a surprise location. He never does surprises, so I'm pretty pumped! More on that later!

5. Had brunch on Saturday with the Fab 5. Rewind to Summer '09 and we were inseparable. Fast forward to 2014 and we've come a long way and added two babies to the mix. We ate breakfast at Another Broken Egg Cafe and caught up for almost 2 hours. I hope this becomes more of a regular thing!

There ya go, my High 5 for Friday!  I'm so glad one of my favorite style blogs The Lauren Elizabeth started this weekly thing because it really helps me to remember back over the week and all the good things that happened! I plan to do a "Weekend in Pictures" this weekend, so we'll see how good I am about capturing some of my moments!

Thought Vomit Thursday

Ok, so the title is gross and I don't think that will become a "thing" for me every Thursday.

My thoughts for this cold, overcast Thursday:

One. It's cold and overcast.  Can I just say how over cold weather I am?! Basically I just need to suck it up for a few more weeks and my beautiful Florida will be producing some summer sun for me.  In the meantime, I do believe I'll by buying a month at the tanning bed soon. As in real soon. (Read: I'm ghostly.)

Two. Ethan keeps surprising me with little things he's doing or making more of a habit of doing. One of those things was to go to any wedding I want to this year. And another was to kiss me more often. It's the little things.

Three. Time. Is. Flying. By.  I'm really serious here. I can't believe I'll be celebrating my 4th wedding anniversary this year. My brother and sister-in-law will be celebrating their 1st. My BABY sister just turned 13!  I'll be freakin' 25 this year! (Read: someone better plan me a huge party!) I'll be working my "new" job 2 years in a few months. Geez.. at this rate I'm going to have grandchildren sometime soon.

Four. Me and Ethan are getting really close to being debt free! I've been trying to throw every spare and extra penny into our debt in hopes of a car, house, and baby! Yes, in that order and the latter two more than likely will not happen this year, but for me, it's all about getting those ducks in a row.

Five. Ethan's application to PTA school is signed, sealed, and delivered. Now.. we pray, and wait, and pray, and wait, and pray some more that he gets accepted to start this Fall 2014. Seriously.. if you're reading this *right now* stop and say a little big prayer for mine and Hubs future!

Six. Losing weight sucks. My advice to all you out there - don't gain weight in the first place. Easier said than done.. I know. Trust me. I know. Right now I've been cleared by my doctor to start exercising again. I've walked on the treadmill at an incline 3 times this past week. It's hard because walking takes sooooo much more time than a quick super cardio video or a Zumba class. I have to start slow and that is just not my style. Baby steps, Katie.

All right.. I've rambled enough. More next time.

Icepocalypse 2014

What an absolutely wild week we've had here in Florida and really all in the South.  This past Tuesday we had a snow storm come rolling in!  Sadly, the snow didn't reach down to our little city, but we did get massive amounts of ice! I'm talking inches and completely frozen over bridges.  Ethan and I stayed at Mom's house from Tuesday afternoon to Thursday afternoon.  We weren't expecting three days off from work either! My biggest fear in all of this was being stuck on the island which is why we headed to Cantonment to stay at my parent's house.  It's a good thing we did because we would have been completely STUCK on Pensacola Beach until the ice melted.  Another bad thing was that the ice wasn't melting! The temperatures have been either freezing or colder the past 3 days!  But, leave it to Florida and it's supposed to be near 70 degrees this weekend.  Florida - the only place where you can get frostbite and a sunburn in the same week.

Of course I've got plenty of pictures to share of our Florida "snow" aka ice.  It's just way more fun to say we got snow! ;) Very very luckily we never lost power while at my parent's house.  I have friends that went nearly the entire 2-3 days without power! We spent our time playing games and watching TV. Basically a whole lot of nothing! Ha!

My favorite memory coming out of this will probably be the chickens.  Thursday morning as the "snow" is melting, Alexis went out to feed the chickens.  She comes back with a worried look and says "Katie, we're missing a black chicken."  Great, now Hannah's going to kill us because we killed on of her babies.  Long story short, we're roaming around the backyard yelling "here, chickey chickey" and that stinkin' chicken had cooper herself in a cage in my Dad's shed that had hay in it and had laid 2 eggs.  She was fine.  All that panic over a chicken that was completely fine. Sigh..

Ok, without further ado.. here are the pictures from the Icepocalypse in Florida of 2014
