Happy Birthday, My Love

Dear Ethan,

I just wanted to take a minute to tell my favorite guy in the whole wide world Happy Birthday. So, without further ado.. Happy Birthday, my love! I hope 25 was great for you! I hope you'll look back on your 25th year with fond memories! But, I hope 26 is even better! I know we have such amazing things to come! I look back over the past 9 birthday {Yes, 9, we're getting old! Well.. you are. I'm still 25 ;)} and think about how much I loved you then, but it's nothing compared to how much I love you now, and not even close to how much I'll love you in the years to come.

You're my best friend, my go-to guy, my handy man, and the only person I want to snuggle up on one third of the couch with {regardless of how many other seats in the living room we have!}!

Happy 26th Birthday, Lovebug! I can't wait to celebrate with you more tonight and tomorrow!

xoxo,
Katie

Longest Short Week of My Life

You ever have one of those weeks that just drag? Yes, everyone? Ok.. Ever have a week where you know you're off on Friday, yet it still drags. Still everyone? Well, that's how this week was for me. I had 36 hours of work to get through and I. Thought. It'd. Never. End.

But the good news is.. now it's Friday and I'm off! So good morning! I've been able to a little house work and now as soon as I'm done here I'm going to get my Week 2, Day 2 workout on! {I'm telling you this to keep me accountable..} Anyways, how's about a recap of my Top 5 for this week?!

{1} Officially signed up for the Mud Run! October 11th I'm going to get down and dirty!

{2} Ethan took me out on an impromptu date night Tuesday to a very popular local restaurant, Peg Leg Pete's. I got crab legs and he got a grouper, scallop and shrimp plate. So yummy!

{Waiting by the Under "Where" Bar}

{Selfie with the Pirate}

{What date night is complete without flowers. Love this man of mine!}

{3} Got my hair done! Finally.. it had been since April 16th?! Yikes.. talk about roots!

{4} Wrote some good posts this week. One being my newest diet challenge {You should join along!} and another being What's Your Love Language. {I highly recommend taking that test, it's eye opening for relationships!}

{5} Got to meet my friend Brittney's new little boy, Zaylin James.

{Zaylin James, Born 8/28/14, 6 lbs 13 oz}

{Please excuse his ugly hat! lol}

You know what I just realized.. my post is almost over and that means I've got pull ups and 2 miles to run.. oh no. But {!!!} after that I get to meet my best friend for lunch and pedis, then pick my sister up from school for a girl's night, and later a movie with her and our Momma! It's going to be a good day, 2 miles to run or not! {Ps.. I'm linking up!}

Happy Friday, Friends! Any big plans for your weekend?

What's Your Love Language?

So yesterday while I was browsing the "Popular Post" section of my Bloglovin', I saw a post from Cupcakes and Cashmere about the Five Love Languages. I've heard of these before and was about 110% sure I already knew what my love language was, but I bookmarked the page with the intention of me and Ethan both taking the test later that night. Here's what we found out.

5-love-languages
{via}

 Katie & Ethan's Love Languages

{Katie}

 It's honestly no shocker to either of us that my #1 love language was, in fact, Words of Affirmation. Ethan and I already knew that I'm the type that needs to be told "I love you" and "I'm proud of you" on a regular basis. He's pretty good about complimenting me, but I have been know to ask every now and then all the time, "do you love me?"

The real shocker to me was that Receiving Gifts is barely there. The test is done on a scale of 1 to 12, with 12 being the most meaningful to you. I scored a 1 on gifts. What was a little interesting was when Ethan mentioned that it makes sense because when I get a gift, it's a sincere thank you, but I'm "over it" within five minutes. Maybe that has to do with me being hard to impress? "Things" don't impress me. Actions speak louder than words, well.. unless you're telling me you love me. ;)

{Ethan}

Ethan didn't score super high on one particular thing. His highest though was Receiving Gifts, which is polar opposite of me, which almost makes me feel super guilty because gifts aren't something I put a lot of thought in to. I'm actually a terrible gift-giver. Aka gift cards are my best friend. But now, after reading this, and knowing that this is his love language, I'm going to try harder to put thought, effort, and time in to his presents. Case and point - his birthday is this Saturday and I've yet to buy him a gift.

But in my defense, we are always together. There's really not a time I'm not with him, unless you count work, and you can't do that. This does make sense since we both scored Quality Time pretty high.

I completely recommend taking the Love Language test with your significant other. It's really opened my eyes about how to love Ethan the way he needs to be shown love. {Take the test here.}

Did you score polar opposite of your SI like me or do you both "speak the same language"?

#CruiseBody // 1st Weigh-In

I've mentioned a couple times that we're going on a cruise in October! Naturally I can't wait. Seven full days of nothing but tropical beaches, exotic drinks, snorkeling, cave tubing.. and my bikini. Oh, the bikini. Nothing like the thought of prancing around in barely nothing to get your butt in gear for some major toning and jiggle lose! But what's a girl to do?

Enter here, my 8 week body makeover challenge. Last Wednesday I was going to start with an "initial" weigh-in, but as you all know, life happens and I got busy and the post never came to be. Actually I really sucked at posting last week, again sorry. So here we are technically 1 week in and I've got some results to share!

Last Monday, August 18, I weighed in at 157.0 and started the Simply Sadie Jane At-Home Crossfit Workouts. I've now completed Week 1 and weighed in this morning at 153.4. That's 3.6 pounds total for my week and a half! I don't have any Week 2 Pictures yet, but I promise those are coming next week!

{8/18 - 1st "Before"}

{8/18 - Love Handle City}

So, eight weeks and 15 pounds is the goal. I've done it before, see my final weigh-in for a diet bet I did back in April. Except this time I've got double the time and won't be using Slimfast as meal replacement. This will be hard work in the gym and super clean eating in the kitchen.

Here's what I've been up to for the past week, workout wise. (Sorry it's so huge. Blogger wouldn't let it resize.) All workouts came from Simply Sadie Jane and are not my own. She also has an instructional video of each move and a printable schedule on her website.

week1-1

 And here's what I have going on for Week 2 of these very intense workouts! To say I'm sore is the understatement of the year! Doing 125 Burpees on Week 1, Day 2 is no joke!

 week2-1
Here's to another hard week of workouts and hopefully cracking the 149 mark by next weigh-in!

Don't Picture This // A Weekend Recap Not in Photos

Happy Monday! I'm going to fess up this morning. Yes, I realize it isn't Wednesday and it's not time for a confess sesh, but.. I was a terrible blogger and took 1 photo this weekend. And it doesn't even have to do with my weekend activities, unless you count napping on the couch with my cat as an activity, and I totally do.

{Family Nap Sesh on the Couch}

But I did do other things this weekend..

+Not pictured: Mine and Ethan's Friday night mall and sushi tradition.

+Not pictured: Taylor waking me up at 10:49 when she called me Saturday morning to see what we were up to. Sleeping, that's what. Hey, Ethan said he wanted to sleep in till noon. Who am I to hold him back from his goals? Supportive {and sleepy} wife right here!

+Not pictured: A gorgeous, yet super duper hot day at the pool. High of 98 with 110 heat index? Sign me up with a big 'ole bottle of water and sunscreen.

+ Pictured: Family nap sesh.. see above. We were obviously sun zapped.

+Not pictured: Dinner with Grandma and Grandpa at Ivey's, our favorite little restaurant in Robertsdale, Alabama, for Ethan's birthday.

+Not pictured: The freaking delicious honey-glazed salmon I had for dinner at Ivey's. Dieting doesn't have to be gross.

+Not pictured: The insane workout routine I've decided to do {with some help from my bff.} I'm on Week 1, Day 4 and holy heck I'm in pain. A good pain {except for my bruised tailbone from sit-ups..} Come on #cruisebody.

+Not pictured: Me and Grandma tearing up some online shopping at Bows & Arrows, an online boutique that caters to FSU game day wear! Can't wait to rock my tribal print FSU shorts! Game on in T-Minus 5 days?! Yay for college football!

+Not pictured: Sunday morning church service with the fam.

+Not pictured: Lunch at Chili's after church with the fam. Have you ever tried to find something diet on their menu?! It's nearly impossible.. I got their Mango-Chili chicken. Gross. Don't waste your time. Also, don't get caught up in their "salads." Did you know their Quesadilla Explosion Salad has nearly 1,400 calories?!

+Not pictured: The giant coffee cup of ice cream I devoured while Ethan took a Sunday afternoon snooze. {Yes, I'm a weirdo and eat my ice cream out of coffee mugs with milk poured on top. It's delicious, you should try it.}

+Not pictured: Me buying more Spicy Thai Chili Tuna from Pubix. Yes, I'm still addicted to that stuff.

+Not pictured: Ethan somehow dumping half his cup of chocolate milk on me while he was walking with his dinner to the coffee table. "Grace" is not his middle name.

+Not pictured: Me live tweeting the VMAs while folding Mt. Foldmore. And by live tweeting, I mean I tweeted twice. Hey, that's pretty good for me! I'm just now getting the hang of the twitter machine.

So there you have it. My weekend in a nutshell of no pictures. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and you're ready to kick this next week in the butt! Hello, Beautiful aka.. It's Friday!

How is it Friday already? I swear it was just Monday morning at 7:30 a.m. and I'm dragging my butt in to my "long" week at work. Now it's Friday and I'm even getting off at 3. Have I told you how much I love my new job?!

It's been a good week. Hashtag cruise body is in full swing. I officially re-officially started back on the diet and exercise grind.. Last Sunday was exactly 9 weeks until we set sail. It's been nothing but protein shakes, grilled chicken, veggies and tuna for this girl since Monday. And I'm happily down 2 pounds. Granted it's the same 2 pounds I gain and lose all the stinkin' time, but 2 pounds nonetheless.

Here's some other things that have been happening:

{1} I entered the cars.com #newcarface contest. Basically, upload of picture of you and your new car {which we all know I just got.. finally} to Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, hashtag #newcarface and tag @carsdotcom, and BAM you're entered to win up to $25,000 to go towards your car loan. That would be freakin' sweet. So to make things a little more exciting, Cars.com contacted me to get the backstory on my #newcarface so they could maybe feature me in an ad about the contest. I wrote back my little blurb and we'll see if they decide to use me! How cool would that be?! 15 minutes of fame please. Actually, just let me win the $25k, that'd be better!

{2} Tuesday night me and Ethan were cooling off after our run on the balcony and we saw a dolphin swimming around in the bay! As soon as I saw it I jumped up like the excited 5-year old I am and watched that thing swim around for a good 30 minutes. And of course took about 800 pictures in the process. I told Ethan we can officially move now. Haha.

{Do you see him?!}

{And a gorgeous sunset picture, just cause..}

{3} Like I said, I started working out again. My friend Taylor has been doing an at-home crossfit program for the past month and has loved it, so I started Week 1, Day 1 last night. If you're interested in the program, check it out here.

{4} Look at this little cuddle bug. Someone thinks he lives the high life.

{Jerry my Berry}

{5} This recipe from SkinnyTaste popped up on my Facebook this week. Skinny Eggplant Rollatini, yes please. Special thanks to everyone that helped me Monday when I asked for good diet recipes! I so appreciate it! :)

Well, I'm off. Hope everyone had a great week! Do you have anything fun planned for the weekend? I'm hoping to hit up a speed boat race!

Weekending // Last Days of Summer

Happy Monday, friends. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Mine was great, except for when I found a nasty dent in my new car. Tears may have been shed. I haven't even made a payment and she's broken. I'm wishing an ingrown toenail on the person who did it. Whoa, talk about some nasty thoughts and feelings toward that person.. Regardless, it was still a good weekend and here's why:

{Friday}

It was my normally scheduled Friday off and I couldn't have been happier about it. Like I mentioned Friday, this past week at work had been a doozy and a day off was much, much needed. I woke up without an alarm, drank my fancy coffee on the patio, and headed off to some errands. The most important one being getting all my tickets and info for the One Direction concert in Tampa me and my little sister Hannah are going to in October! I bought these tickets last November, so to think the concert is a mere 6 weeks away is cray!

{Fancy coffee on the patio}

{Chick-fil-A Ice Dream cone because it's Friday}

{mini photo shoot with Jinxy. At first, he wasn't feeling it.}

{But kisses make everything better!}

Friday night me and Ethan got dinner at my favorite BBQ restaurant downtown, The Happy Pig. I got a pulled pork quesadilla and he got the pulled chicken sandwich. So yummy.  Afterwards we went to Gallery Night, our town's version of a block party/art show. I had a lot of fun walking around looking at the various booths and people watching, but it's just not Ethan's thing. Next month I'll definitely be going back, but this time it'll be girl's night! So ladies, get ready!

{Saturday}

I'm kind of afraid this past Saturday was my last "typical" summer Saturday. It was absolutely gorgeous outside and me and Ethan spent a lot of time by the pool. The summer crowds are starting to dwindle, which is so nice because we were able to actually leave the island to grab some lunch. Have you ever had a Publix sub?! Oh my gosh. So yummy. The afternoon was spent napping followed by a trip to Sam's Club to buy  chicken breast, sweet potatoes, and broccoli. You guessed it.. the Macarthurs are officially on a #cruisebody diet. We've got 9 weeks and quite a few pounds to lose! I'll be updating on Wednesdays until the cruise! My goal is to lose 15 pounds! Wish me luck!

{I love this guy so much. He even complimented my top knot, which every girl knows is a sign of true love.}

Saturday night we stayed with my parents. Mostly because Ethan wanted to pick up his new golf clubs he got offEbay, but it is easier for church. I ended up playing Guitar Hero with Hannah till midnight. I used to be so good. Not so much anymore. Ha!

{Sunday}

We went to church, per the usual. I enjoyed the preacher that came. He actually had a positive message. One part that stuck out to me was when he said that he enjoys the life God gave him here on earth. Most pastors are so caught up on God coming back, that they forget that we were put here on earth to spread the Gospel and that's it's okay to enjoy what God has given you. It was refreshing to me to have a positive preacher come in and not talk about all the negative things that are going on in the world.

After church the whole family went to lunch at Cracker Barrel. As a final goodbye to yummy food, I got the pancake breakfast. So yummy. After lunch I spent the entire afternoon napping. Full tummy = perfect Sunday afternoon nap.

Sunday evening I hung out with Taylor, helping her be a 2nd set of eyes on some decorations she's bought for her house and just chatting the evening away. We're both so excited about our cruise coming up and the fact that her husband will be back from deployment in only a few weeks!

Sunday night me and Ethan got our first taste of diet prepping.. he grilled two chicken breasts, steamed some broccoli and sweet potatoes and packed our lunches for the next day while I got to marinating 8 chicken breasts for the week to come. Dieting is not going to be fun, but I know I have to do it! :(

Anyone have any good diet recipes so me and Ethan don't get burnt out on chicken and broccoli?! I hate broccoli..

Friday's Favorites

Happy Friday, everyone! I've been crazy busy at work this past week, but let me tell you, this crazy busy hard week, was 100xs better than a great day at my old job. Not to mention today's my Friday off. Old job didn't offer that either.

{1} Played Bunco with favorite ladies on Tuesday.  I didn't win my $5 back, but I did get to eat as much chips and dip as my heart desired. So it's still a win.

{Trippy game: find the dice.}

{2} Got my August Birchbox in the mail this week! Birchbox is now letting you pick items for your box for a more customizable experience, and this month I was able to choose between a special edition box or pick between some products. Obviously I went with the special edition box! I'll get more into the contents next week!

{Luxurious products that are affordable!}

{3} Speaking of Birchbox, they think I'm a pretty incredible person. Just see below.

{4} My new car rolled over to 10,000 miles. My baby girl is just growing right up.

{5} And lastly, I'm starting my day off with my favorite homemade "fancy" coffee. And by fancy, I mean flavored creamer with some whipped cream on top with a chocolate sauce drizzle.

Now I'm off to go pick up my One Direction tickets!! Ahhh is it October 3rd yet?! Because this self-respecting 25-year old woman is ready to jam to my favorite boy band! ;)

Confessions of a Slightly Grumpy Person

It's Wednesday and you know what that means. Time for me to come clean. (Except for my crockpot.. you'll see why.)

+ I confess I hate when people use the following hashtag: #myhusbandisbetterthanyours. It gets under my skin.

+ Actually I confess the same goes for #Ilivewhereyouvacation. I seriously had a Facebook friend use that and then say something along the lines of "who's jealous this is practically my backyard?!" Correction: it's not "practically" your backyard, you live a good 40 minutes away from the beach. Bragging gets you nowhere with me.

+ I confess I'm saddened to hear about the death of Robin Williams. He was a great actor and provided many laughs for me during my childhood. Mrs. Doubtfire is one of my all-time favs.

{via}

+ I confess I'm glad depression awareness is getting some limelight. I hate that it had to come down to a famous actor's death, but depression is a real thing that many people struggle with.

+ I confess this self-proclaimed summer girl is so ready for fall. #bigplans

+ I confess my blonde isn't real. I mean, I really pay for it, but if you haven't noticed the 3" roots, then there's nothing to see here. In other words, I'll be getting those taken care of next week!

+ I confess I don't know understand much about what's going on in the Middle East, but I think it's along the lines of "Jesus is coming soon.."

+ I confess I've had my crockpot "soaking" in the kitchen sink for about 5 days. I know, it's gross. We've just been that busy. I've got big cleaning plans for Wednesday night.

+ I confess I hide my cat's medicine behind my back as I approach him using my soothing voice. I think he's catching on..

So what do you confess? I told you my biggest pet peeves, what's yours?

Linking up to bring you a confess sesh.

Weekending // Ethan Hates My Pants

Please tell me I'm not the only one who gets the Sunday night blues. Although tonight especially I'm probably not the only one because many of my teacher friends go back to school tomorrow. Summer's over. Womp womp. But only in the "school year" sense because it's still hot as heck here in the Panhandle.

Special thanks to all the love I got on the new blog! And, for those of you who don't already know, I sold my old car!! Yay!! And I got full asking price on it! It was sad to see her go, but man it feels good to be able to pay off our cruise and stick some money in savings! AND make our car insurance go down!
Friday night we met up with Taylor at the mall. I know what you're thinking, "the Macarthurs.. at the mall on a Friday night?!" Yes, try not to die of shock. We had a good time - got my mall sushi and even a new outfit that Ethan absolutely hates. True story. He told me if there was a word stronger than hate, that's how he feels about my new pants. {See picture below of said pants. They aren't that bad and I absolutely love them.} We finished up the night with some yummy Marble Slab.
{I got birthday cake ice cream with twix and cookie dough. Super yum!}
Saturday morning me and E went on a Chick-fil-A run for breakfast and cozzied on the couch watching "How It's Made" and another episode of OITNB. I have no idea what I'm going to watch when I'm done with Season 2?! We left our house around 1:30 for me to ride with my Mom to Brittney's baby shower and for Ethan to head to the river early with my Dad.
{Baby McDonald due September 22!}

{These are the terrible pants in question.. so naturally me and Seana needed a picture together in our pajama pants! haha!}

 I was told at the shower that my 1st baby would be a boy since I drank so much of the blue baby shower punch. Not going to lie, having a boy first sounds good. I'm so paranoid my boy name is going to become popular that I'm totally ok with the idea! After the shower, me and mom headed to the river to meet up with everyone else. We normally hit up the river a few times every summer to play on the float and water ski. Sadly a nasty storm popped up as soon as we got there, so there was no time to play on the float before me and Ethan had to leave. I did, however, get to give my sweet baby cousin her 1st pedicure.. at the Milton river, doesn't get much classier.
{Me & Emma}

{Please please please let my baby have this much hair!}

{The look of concentration}

These next pictures were shot in progression.. and they crack me up every. single. time.

{end result. pretty pink piggies}

No worries, no babies or piggies were hurt in the process, regardless of what Emma's eyes were telling you. We left the river early to meet up with Ethan's friends Aaron and Suz to see Guardians of the Galaxy. As a non-movie fanatic, I have to say I actually enjoyed the movie. I can't stand action movies that are so serious and this one had a lot of random humor in it. I'd totally recommend it and it's pretty clean, so the kiddos can go too.

Sunday morning we got up and went to church. I really enjoyed the pastor that was there, but sadly he has a church and life back where he's from, so I know there's no chance we could hire him as full-time pastor. I'm getting really discouraged with all the church talk. It's really hard to attend church when you don't know who's going to be preaching and you feel like you're getting nothing out of the service. I guess, just say a prayer for me. It's getting hard.

After service me and Ethan went to Olive Garden for lunch. Just the two of us and it was fantastic. I'd been craving eggplant Parmesan, so I knew Italian food had to happen. I love spending time with him and I try to soak up as many moments as I can. After lunch we went to Taylor's house to workout. Naturally. Gorge yourself with bread sticks, work out. Makes things even. Of course Taylor's crossfit workout was insane and hard and I'm totally already feeling it, but of course again I'm glad I did it! #cruisebody  The rest of the afternoon we hung out at her house watching golf and reading funny E-cards. And just as we were headed out the door for dinner, Taylor got called in to work. Bummer. Ethan and I ended up going home and eating cereal for dinner. So basically, someone still owes me a chips and salsa dinner! ;)

Anyways, linking up with my Monday buddies: Bella and Lisa for Weekend Recap, Weekending with Biana, Molly and Carly for Let It Shine, Carylee and On the Daily Express for Manic Monday, Rachael and Lisa for their Weekend Wrap Up, Anni for her Weekend Recap, Join the Gossip, and Meg for Monday Mingle!
