Humpday Bumpday // Week 31

{Oops, forgot to snag a Week 31 shot. So here's me & hubs at my friend's wedding! 31w4d}

how far along: 31 weeks! The single digit week countdown is on!

due date: July 20th.
size of the baby:

{The Bump app}
baby is: At 3+ pounds and measuring around 18", Charlotte is quickly approaching birth length, but she'll pack on another 3-5 pounds before she's born. She's now processing information, tracking light, and perceiving signals from all five senses! She's also putting in longer stretches of sleep, so I'll probably notice her more defined pattern of sleep and movement.

{Ovia app}
movement: When she's moving, she's grooving. She makes my entire stomach shake and her little knees and elbows hurt so bad, but I stress when I haven't felt her in some time. Even if it hurts, it's very reassuring to have that kick and jab.
total weight gain: We'll find out when I go to the doctor this week. I'm sort of afraid to weigh myself at home now..

stretch marks: New ones definitely on my bum. Right now they're low enough that they can't be seen in a swimsuit; hopefully they stay that way.
symptoms: Being out of breath from her crowding my lungs, mixed with congestion, makes me feel like I'm not getting enough air. Also, my feet are killing me by the end of the day.

wedding rings on or off: On during the day, off at night.

belly button in or out: I'd say it's about 75% completely out.
maternity clothes: Obviously.
sleep: Ha! You mean that time at night where you toss and turn, get too hot, and have to get up 100xs to pee? Then yes, I'm "sleeping" great.
missing: Feeling normal. Don't get me wrong - I love that my body is carrying a baby and all the wonderful things that it's accomplishing to make a new life, but man.. I'm tired.
cravings/aversions: Coke Icees are still my jam. Currently craving fresh strawberry lemonade and Chick-fil-A nuggets.
cries: The crazy pregnant lady cries have started. Almost cried in the car at the thought of painting Charlotte's toes pink for the 1st time.

nursery: Needs some major cleaning again. Little girl has so much stuff already?!
ethan is: my rock and my best friend. I've had to lean on him several times this week when I was feeling down. I can't imagine "doing life" with anyone else, nor would I want to. God knew what He was doing when He picked Ethan for me.
best moments: Used up one of my birthday gift cards for a pedicure. I sprung for the delux-mamma-needs-it upgrades and definitely was loving life. We also had an amazing maternity picture session with our birth photographer, Katie! She was wonderful and I can't believe the next time I see her will be when she's capturing our little girl's grand entrance! We even got a sneak peek at one of our maternity pictures over the weekend!

not so best moments: I'm so frustrated with our house progress at the moment. The builder, the bank, and the title company CANNOT agree on what forms we need signed. I've been all over the place trying to coordinate with everyone for signatures. You'd think this is the 1st time these people have ever done a home loan. And top it off, we've had some other snags that hopefully will resolve themselves this week. Please pray for us.

looking forward to: Getting the rest of our maternity pictures back and my doctor's appointment on the 28th!

next appointment: May 28th.

Memorial Day Weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Eaton

The last of my close friends got married this past Friday night and to say it was a beautiful wedding would be the understatement of the year! I knew from the get-go that this was a wedding I wouldn't miss {even if Taylor Swift was going to be a mere couple of hours away from me that very night doing a concert!}! Seeing my sweet friend as a bride was probably the best part of it all. She was absolutely stunning!

{The Kiss}

{Mr. & Mrs. Eaton}
The reception was gorgeous! It totally pays when your new mother-in-law is a wedding coordinator and owns her own rental company! I loved the flow of the whole wedding! There was never that awkward "DJ tries to get the whole place to dance for an hour.." or anything like that! They had a cocktail hour while the bridal party took pictures, then the 1st Dance, then the food was served. The rest of the night was spent mingling with friends and playing in the photo booth!

{Best Friend}

{Handsome Date & Baby Daddy}

{Taylor & Colin}

{Taylor, Marissa & Colin}

{The beautiful Bride!}

{The Send-Off}
The rest of the 3-day weekend was spent spending time with our friends. We went to a cookout, watched some NBA finals, and did some major shopping damage in Foley! All-in-all a wonderful weekend!

Shi.. Er.. Stuff People Say // Pregnant Edition

Let's face it. People these days have no filter. It's like they left their brains at home. I, on the other hand, kind of did leave my brain at home. It's called pregnancy brain and it's a real thing, people. But this isn't about me. It's about the stuff people have said to me while I'm pregnant. These are true life events.
  • Me - "It's a girl!" Them - "Oh, you might want to get a second opinion on that. My husband's/brother's/cousin's/aunt's/neighbor's daughter was told she was having a girl and 9 months later, {insert little boy's name} was born!" - Got this one from multiple people.
  • "You're not drinking caffeine? That's ridiculous. I've never heard of that. I drank caffeine with both my kids and they're fine." - Research suggests that excess caffeine in the 1st trimester can cause up to a 25% increase in miscarriage.
  • Two weeks ago (29 weeks): "Oh my gosh, look at you! You're finally starting to look pregnant!" One week ago (30 weeks)(Same person as 29 weeks comment..): "Oh, you're aren't going to make it to July. You're definitely having that baby in June." - I've gone from one extreme to the next apparently.
  • "Katie, you're looking real pregnant today. It must be the stripes on your dress." - Or maybe that all maternity clothes are just tents and the 30 pounds I've gained isn't exactly "slimming."
  • "I probably shouldn't tell you this until after you've had the baby, but... my brother's/cousin's/neighbor's/aunt's {fill in the blank..} daughter just had a baby and that poor baby was born with {insert medical trauma/complication/defect/etc.}, but I'm sure you're baby is fine."
  • "You look swollen."
  • "Your nose looks bigger already. You know that's a sign the baby's getting ready. You know, like how a meat thermometer pops when the turkey is cooked, you're nose pops more."
  • "Your lips look bigger."
  • "You aren't going to breastfeed? Good for you! Don't let anyone shame you into breastfeeding if you don't want to." (Same person, 2 minutes later) "You're not getting an epidural?! {Insert snide "I've had a baby I know what it's like" look} You'll change your mind, sweetie." - Isn't this reverse shaming?! What's wrong with saying "Good for you. I wish you the best with that."?!
  • "Well, when I was pregnant with my first {20-something years ago}, we did {insert 1990s advice}. - Oh, the 1990s advice I've gotten.
I told my doctor some of these at my last appointment. She told me to take other people's advice with a grain of salt. I told her I'd take it with a shot of tequila if I could. We both just laughed. Oh, goodness. People, I know you all mean well, but come on.. cut the pregnant lady some slack. ;)
** These comments were made to me and all responses were made internally by me. I'm a nod my head and smile kind of girl. And most these comments have been made by the same 4 people. Bless their hearts.

What's some of the ridiculous stuff people have said to you while pregnant?! Or are you guilty of saying something ridiculous? Come on, spill the beans! ;)

Humpday Bumpday // Week 30

how far along: Goodbye 20s, Hello Week 30!

due date: July 20, 2015

appointment update: Everything on my end is looking good according to the doctor - passed all my 28 week blood work and my blood pressure and weight are still good. We were concerned about Charlotte's heart rate for a little bit when the doctor was listening to it. Apparently her heart rate was in the 170s, while it should be from 120-160. We had been laughing and chatting right before and when I get excited while talking, I know she reacts to me, so I took some deep breaths trying to calm her down. We got it down in the 130s, but then it spiked again, probably because I was stressing that it was so high. Again, took some calming deep breaths and we got it to stabilize for over a minute. My doctor talked to me about preterm labor and what to do if something were to happen. It's absolutely mind blowing to me that "I'm there" - like she's talking to me about this because it could happen! She'll be seeing me every two weeks up until I'm 36 weeks, then it's every week until I give birth!
size of the baby:

{What to Expect app}
baby is: Her skin is getting smoother and her brain is getting wrinklier {to make way for all that essential brain tissue!}! She's also strong enough to grasp a finger! My heart may literally melt the day she grasps my finger!

{Ovia app}
movement: She's doing this new thing with my belly that makes both the sides come up, but my bellybutton go down. It looks totally weird.
total weight gain: I've hit the 30 mark. Yikes.

stretch marks: Still on my tatas, and possibly now on my booty. Though I'm not sure if the booty ones are real or varicose veins? Regardless, I'm still lathering on the stretch mark cream day and night.
symptoms: Indigestion picked up this week, along with overall tiredness. I've also started to see mild swelling by the end of the day, but my ankles are back to normal by morning.

wedding rings on or off: On during the day; off at night.

belly button in or out: More and more of the top part is starting to pop out. It'll be a complete outie by the time I'm done for sure.
maternity clothes: No new purchases here, but it's all I'm wearing.
sleep: I ditched the pregnancy pillow. I know, you can all pick your jaws up off the ground. Right now I'm good as long as I have this tiny pillow between my legs. I'm able to get in bed SO much easier and I'm able to flip side-to-side easier. So far it's working for me, except my cat thinks it's his job to prepare me for motherhood by waking me up every 2-4 hours at night lately.
missing: Taking time off from work. This sounds silly, but me and Ethan are totally the type to take off random days and go down to Orlando for a Universal trip. We've both been saving up our days, so we really haven't been taking time off like we're used to.  It'll all be worth it once Charlotte is here and I've got a full 12-weeks of paid leave with her.
cravings/aversions: Coke Icees are my jam again. I've had two this week.
cries: Had a total mom cry session in my car driving home from my baby shower. This song came on the radio that had nothing to do with babies or children, but talked about "summertime, 19, you and me" and how the girl is "California beautiful" with her long blonde hair. And all I could see was my Charlotte at 19, coming home to visit us from college and how stunningly beautiful she is. So random, so weird. I could just see all her milestones passing by so fast and watching her grow up to be such a beautiful woman. It didn't make me sad to see my baby growing up. It was a proud cry and how excited I am to watch her grow.

nursery: Now that we've had our 1st shower, things are getting full! Like, we have diapers now and a wipe warmer on her dresser. Craziness. We also ordered the ottoman part of her glider this weekend once we got gift cards from the shower!
ethan is: a funny bunny. I wish I would have taken a picture, but after the shower on Saturday, as I'm unpacking and storing all her new things, I've got Ethan unboxing random things like her stroller fan, which he now has clipped to her nightstand, reading all the books she got, while rocking in her glider. Oh, that man. He makes me laugh!
best moments: Our 1st baby shower and being able to spend time with Ethan's parents while they were in town. We had Joe Patti shrimp one night with all Ethan's family, got to visit some of the Parade of Homes homes, and had our traditional Chinese food night too!

not so best moments: I'm getting super frustrated at our house progress, or lack thereof. Right now the Title Company, Appraiser, and Bank are all arguing about our legal description and we can't close until they agree on it. Come on, PEOPLE! I'm not getting any less pregnant these days..

looking forward to: Taking my maternity pictures and a nice 4-day weekend thanks to Memorial Day!

next appointment: Regular appointment - May 28th!

Charlotte's Storytime Brunch Shower

We had our 1st baby shower this past weekend! My "theme" was Storybook Brunch, and as I've mentioned before, "theme" just means I wanted brunch-like foods and had on my invite for people to bring a book instead of a card. I absolutely love the idea of books for the baby instead of cards. Cards either get tossed or put in the box that no one looks at for years. With her new collection of books, we'll be reading these for years to come! And having the shower at 10 a.m. was perfect for everyone, because let's face it - people want to get on with their Saturdays! :)

This was my family shower that also included my mom's friends. I'm so thankful for each and every one of them. They definitely spoiled Miss Charlotte! Now prepare for picture overload!

{She got some of the sweetest little outfits!}

{This Mudpie snail romper is one I'll never get rid of!}

{My little Nole baby! Got to raise 'em right!}

{Yay for her "big girl" car seat!}
{All my future baby sitters ;) !!}

{Baby Daddy & Best Friend - don't know what I'd do without these two!}

{Dad's Side of the Family}

{Ethan's Sisters & Mom}

{Mom's Side of the Family}
We are so blessed to have so many people that already love Charlotte so much! After this past weekend, I feel a little more comfortable with bringing her into this world! I've got a little bit of time until our next shower, which is being thrown by my work! Hopefully I can get all her little items put away in time or her room will forever be messy! Ha!

Freebies // Carseat Canopy Coupon

If there's two things I know for sure, it's that I don't want strangers touching my baby and I don't have a crafty bone in my body. So insert the Carseat Canopy.
Cute carseat coverup that protects my baby from weirdo people?! Yes, please, and thank you.
I literally just ordered one for Charlotte yesterday.
{Photo from website}
I had been going back and forth on whether or not I actually wanted one and ultimately decided that yes, my paranoid 1st time mom-self needed one. And when I found a coupon to get one for free I knew it was a sign.
So why am I telling you this? Well, when I ordered mine {you pay $14.99 shipping & handling, but the $49.99 cover is free} they gave me a coupon to pass on to friends for a free canopy of their own. You're required to pay shipping and handling of $14.99, but I know I couldn't buy the fabric and make it myself for that cheap.
Free Carseat Canopy Coupon: 64BACC534
On the website, there's about 20 different designs and then a line of NFL-inspired ones. I bought Charlotte the "Sprinkled" pattern {pictured above}. You can also add your baby's name to it for an additional fee. So all my mommy-to-be friends, check this out and use that coupon if this is something you want!
Just so you know - this is not a sponsored post, but if I get 5 people to use my coupon code, then my shipping and handling will be refunded to me. But I'd pay $15 for this cover with or without the possibility of getting it totally free.
Happy Thursday, friends! Or as I like to call it Friday Eve!

Humpday Bumpday // Week 29

{29w6d on my 1st Mother's Day}

how far along: 29 weeks! Eek, the last week of my 20s!
size of the baby:
{The Bump app}
baby is: getting a little cramped in there since she's growing so fast and her energy is surging because of the white fat deposits she's growing under her skin.

{Ovia app}
movement: All the time. Well, except for when we want to do a 3D ultrasound. That's apparently nap time. Her movements aren't so much kicks anymore as they are just wiggles and stretches. Her little knees definitely poke out a lot!
total weight gain: In preparation for our 3D ultrasound, I upped my water intake to a gallon a day and the water weight has definitely set in! I'm up 3+ pounds from last week and the swollenness of my belly shows! I had four people this past week tell me "you finally look pregnant!"

stretch marks: Possible new marks on my booty?! Say it isn't so!
symptoms: heartburn has started, but not too bad. Moving in general I'm much, much slower.

wedding rings on or off: On during the day, off at night.

belly button in or out: Poked out on the top half.
maternity clothes: See those white capris in the picture above. I live in those.
sleep: I sleep fine once I'm actually asleep, but falling asleep is a different story. Sleeping on my back is a total no-go now. I can't breath from the weight of my belly, so it's only my sides from here on out. Except if I'm on my right side, I have a little girl's feet "dangling" so she's constantly kicking them and squirming.
missing: My cute summer clothes.
cravings/aversions: Got the bloomin' onion from Outback that I had been craving.
cries: literally cried when the Royal Princess' name was announced as Charlotte. Great, now my little uncommon name is about to skyrocket. Also cried when I got my 1st Mother's Day card in the mail from my in-laws. They are seriously the sweetest people in the world and I'm so lucky to have them! Cried watching a dang Huggies commercial. {see below} Cried when I saw Charlotte's face on the 3D ultrasound. And finished out my week by crying over the Mother's Day gift and card that Ethan got me. He's the best.

{My beautiful Mother's Day gift}

{I dare you to watch this and NOT cry.}

nursery: coming along! :) We got the dresser and nightstand painted this week!

{Sneak peek!}
ethan is: still the sweetest. He helped pick out the paint color and paint this week. And when I told him I really wanted Taco Bell for dinner, to my surprise he said "well, come on let's get you some Taco Bell." When I questioned him really?! He says "yes, my pregnant wife hasn't asked for anything this entire pregnancy. If you want Taco Bell, you're getting Taco Bell." What a sweetheart!
best moments: Oh gosh, so many this week! Getting a sneak peek at Charlotte's face at her 3D ultrasound, passing my glucose test, getting her dresser painted and her bedding in, celebrating my 26th birthday, celebrating my 1st Mother's Day. The list goes on and on!

not so best moments: Woke up super early to be at the lab to take my glucose test, only to find out that I should have fasted. NO ONE told me this and I've had multiple people tell me it was fine to eat because "you're pregnant, you'd pass out if you didn't eat with all that blood drawn!" So I went back the next day {super early again} and the phlebotomist blew my vein. It's been over a week now and there's still a huge ugly bruise!

looking forward to: our 1st baby shower this upcoming Saturday!

next appointment: May 14 - Regular Checkup

in case you missed it: Our Announcement :: How We Found Out :: Weeks 4-11 :: Week 12 :: Week 13 :: Week 14 :: Week 15 :: Week 16 :: Week 17 :: Week 18 :: Gender Reveal :: Week 19 :: Week 20 :: Week 21 :: Week 22 :: Week 23 :: Week 24 :: Week 25 :: Week 26  :: Week 27 :: Week 28

Charlotte's 3D Ultrasound

Things we learned at Charlotte's 3D ultrasound:
 She's still a girl.
She has hair.
She's a stubborn one.
She's snug as a bug in a rug in my left hip, facing my tailbone. No amount of poking, prodding or jiggling phases her.
She loves her hands and they are constantly {and I mean constantly} right beside her face.
The caffeine and sugar in a Starbucks S'mores Frappe puts her right to sleep.
We can't wait to kiss those squishy lips!
She's the most beautiful girl in the world. {Of course, I may be biased ;) }
Seeing her makes me even more impatient to have her. I can't wait till she makes us a Family of 3.

Special thanks to Shonda at ShoMe Prenatal Imaging. She was so kind and patient with us and our stubborn one, especially since we came back two extra times to try to get better images. If you're in the Pensacola area, I definitely recommend ShoMe Prenatal Imaging for early previews, gender reveals, and 3D/4D ultrasounds!
