Making Macarthur Manor // Updates & Fences

 So much has changed in just a week! The last time I updated on the house {1st Update} was the first time Ethan met with our Project Supervisor Donnie and now, one week later Ethan's met with him again and they've finalized the positioning of the house and Donnie's crew is coming in today {6/30} with the main foundation dirt to shape the actual outline of the house in preparation for the foundation to be poured! I'm so glad they can do these things without our permits, but the awesome news is that our actual permits should come in by the end of THIS WEEK! Donnie's also got an appointment scheduled for us in two weeks for the plumbers to come out and lay our plumbing!

Ethan's also be working really hard and busting his butt to complete our fence before Charlotte gets here! In just 4 days he's completed all this by himself! That's post holes dug, posts leveled and cemented, rails hung, and the start of the pickets! He's pulling 13+ hour days and comes home sweaty, dirty, and tired, but I'm so proud of him! He's got his mind set that he wants to accomplish this and it's looking pretty darn great!

Hopefully the next update will have a completed fence to share! You'd never know Ethan's never put up a fence in his life! Thanks, Youtube, and I'm so proud of you, Babe! ;)

Charlotte's "Charlotte's Web" Shower

My best friend Taylor and her mom threw me the most adorable Charlotte's Web-themed shower! And I think she pulled it off perfectly without making it seem like Halloween! I mean, come'on it's a book about a spider! :) She told me she watched the movie for inspiration and based most of the shower off the County Fair that Wilbur {the pig} is being shown at! It was absolutely adorable and I couldn't have asked for more!

{The book doubled as a guest book with sweet notes written to our Charlotte}

It was a brunch-style shower with mini chicken-and-waffles, popcorn, pigs in a blanket, watermelon, spider web cookies and pig cookies, with award-winning County Fair pies for dessert! Taylor even made homemade jelly as favors! Seriously, how cute?!

We ended up moving the party inside because, let's face it, Florida in late June is HOT! It was a good call because not 5 minutes after taking all the presents inside, it started a heavy downpour!

Charlotte received so many wonderful presents and so many diapers {yay!!}! My friends definitely hooked us up with a ton of the necessities! And a couple cute outfits! I was horrible about taking pictures at this shower, unlike my 1st shower with my family where I made sure I got a picture with everyone! Blame that one on the 'ole pregnancy brain!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Taylor and Ms. Susan for showering us with love and opening your home up! I can't believe this was our last shower and now all that's left to do is wait for our Charlotte to decide it's her birthday!

Five Friday Favorites

I haven't done a "Friday Favorites" in awhile, so why not! Some of these will relate to me, but others are things that I hope you'll try too!

{1} Favorite Moment: We've finally broke ground on our forever home! This has been a loooong time coming! We started the process back in January with the bank and now 6 months later, we've got dirt moved! Yay!

{2} Baby Related: Being considered full-term and our due date month are literally days away! The nursery is just about done and we have our last baby shower tomorrow! I plan on having my hospital bag, my "in case my water breaks at work" bag, and her car seat in my car all by Monday!

{3} Favorite Purchase: My favorite baby moccs are 25% off thru midnight tonight! Check out www.sweetnswag.com to snag yourself a pair or 8 and use coupon code: 70K. These are seriously high quality and only $17.99 with shipping right now using the code {normally $20 + shipping}. I just got Char her 3rd pair.. #noshame. And no, this isn't sponsored, I just really love them!

{4} Favorite Recipe: These Momofuku Cornflake Chocolate Chip Marshmallow cookies. The first time I made them they were prepackaged with all the ingredients in a cute little cookie tin from Birchbox {again, not affiliated, just showing some love}, but after devouring them I knew I had to find the recipe. I found the recipe off a cooking blog that I found on Pinterest. Her name's Margaret and that's her picture below! :)

{5} Favorite Song: Andy Grammer - Home I'm |Good. Seriously heard this song {not for the first time} while in the shower this morning and had to sing and dance along!

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend! If you've got nothing planned, make those cookies and have a dance party with Andy Grammer! :) See you all on Monday!

Humpday Bumpday // Week 35

{35w6d}
how far along: 35 weeks! The last week of Month 8!

due date: July 20th

size of the baby:

{What to Expect app}

baby is: Charlotte now has fully-developed hearing and will respond to high-pitched noises, according to my The Bump app. I've actually found this one to be true. She's jumped at noises before that I think scared her! She's still growing, growing, growing along with my uterus which is now about 1,000 times its original size! {OMG!}

{Ovia Pregnancy app}

movement: Yes, I'm convinced those sharp little knees, heels, and elbows are actually going to bruise me from the inside out! I actually told Ethan I missed the days when her little flutters were all I felt! Those moments where you go "was that the baby?! Eek!!" Don't get me wrong, I love feeling her move. It lets my Momma heart know she's doing A-Okay and I'd rather feel her moving, squirming, kicking and punching than not!

total weight gain: Still managed to stay right under or right at 190 for another week. I read in the What to Expect book that it's normal for most moms to see little change on the scales at this point.

stretch marks: Closing out Month 8 with stretch marks on my boobs, bum cheeks, and three tiny lines forming on my left hip. I've been using my Palmer's Stretch Mark cream religiously and feel like while it didn't prevent stretch marks, it did help keep them smaller than if I hadn't used any cream. I honestly feel like the cream has faded some of the older ones that I got first. I'll continue to use the cream until I see zero marks!

symptoms: My hands have started to fall asleep at night along with my joints feeling like I've got arthritis. I assume this is all normal since the hormone Relaxin is probably flowing through me by now, but I'll ask my doctor at my next appointment.

wedding rings on or off: Oo.. changes in this section! I've found that a couple days this past week my hands were too swollen to wear any rings at any time! Right now I'm just wearing my wedding band. For some reason when I pair my engagement ring with my wedding ring it makes things tighter!

belly button in or out: Out, out, out.

maternity clothes: All day, every day.

sleep: Not good. I obviously have to sleep on my sides, but then my hand and hip will go numb/fall asleep on that side then I have to roll over to my other side. It's a never ending process at night. Poor Ethan.

missing: Good sleep, obviously.

cravings/aversions: Got the craving for a good-ole American ham and cheese sandwich. I threw the "processed deli meats rule" out the window and caved. It was amazing.

cries: Have you ever listened to the lyrics of "Isn't She Lovely"? Like really, really listened to them? Oh. My. Gosh. I saw the lyrics written out for the first time this week and cried, literally cried over them. To make things even more ironic, I just purchased some prints for Charlotte's nursery and one of them says "Isn't She Lovely." I wasn't planning it at all, just liked the coordinating set. Now I'm on a mission to learn that song so I can sing it to my sweet girl.

We also saw the new Disney Pixar movie "Inside Out" this past weekend. It was cute and did have some slow parts, but the beginning of that movie should never be watched while pregnant. Not 5 minutes in and I was boohooing my eyes out.

nursery: We've got our last baby showers this upcoming week, so I'm really really hoping I can share the whole nursery next week or early July! I'd love to be able to share it before she makes her grand appearance!

ethan is: my handy man, sweet husband extraordinaire! He got dragged into Michael's with me this weekend. Poor guy.. But he's put handles on her dresser, painted her book shelf, and hung her gallery wall this week. He's knocking out his daddy to do list like a champ!

{Ethan on his kinda 1st Father's Day picking out his new drill to do all his nursery projects!}

best moments: Making it to 35 weeks {aka the point of no return in my doctor's eyes} and not having a baby! Isn't that weird of me to say?! I honestly want her to stay in until July, and preferably until the weekend before her due date! :) She's also got a car seat in Momma's car now! Ahh! And celebrating Ethan's kinda 1st Father's Day!

{35w5d at the pool}

{Made pancakes for Ethan's 1st Father's Day}

not so best moments: Little Miss really freaked her Momma out this past week. During the week she normally wakes up with me - I'll start to feel her when I'm brushing my teeth, but definitely by the time I get in the shower. I was to the point where I was blow drying my hair and still hadn't felt her move. And since I had been asleep, I couldn't tell you the last time I felt her move. I had to drink a large glass of chocolate milk and lay down for 10 minutes while rubbing my stomach to get her to stretch a little. Even then she wasn't making the movements that I wanted to see since she's normally a wild woman in the morning. I grabbed my water bottle and headed to work with the intention of drinking all my icy water and if she didn't move by the time I got to work, we were headed to the hospital for a stress test. Thankfully, the cold water really got her moving and we didn't go to the doctor. AND she definitely made up for her lack of movement throughout the day. But still, that scared me so bad!

looking forward to: Her last two baby showers and finishing up her nursery! And hopefully her Coming Home outfit getting shipped!

next appointment: June 25th for my 36 week checkup! After this it's every week we're seeing the doctor!

Making Macarthur Manor // Breaking Ground

 Last week {6/18} Ethan had an onsite visit with our Project Supervisor, Donnie. Ethan said it was a great meeting and he feels confident in the direction and timeline that Donnie provided us for the construction of our forever home! Basically Donnie said that they could start clearing and preparing the lot as soon as possible because you don't have to wait for the County permits to do so. But once everything is cleared, then it'll be a couple weeks before they can pour the foundation. He also said that his land clearing crew was on standby to get started as soon as possible.

After months and months of struggling with the bank and getting held up at every. single. corner, it was nice to finally hear that we were a priority and people were ready to get started on our house! And super awesome to hear we could maybe, just maybe have a foundation poured before Little Miss makes her appearance!

Donnie told Ethan that by Sunday they'd have the lot staked off to mark the positioning of the house on the lot. So when Ethan and I stopped by on Sunday afternoon, we only expected to see stakes and rope marking the property, not actual dirt moved and the shape of our house cut out! It was an awesome surprise to say the least! I asked my aunt {who lives next door} when they did it and she said they worked sun up to sun down on Saturday!

I'm so excited to say that construction on our forever home has started! They've officially broke ground! :)

I'm sure this will be the 1st of many, many more house update posts! :)

An Anniversary, Pool Days & Father's Day

 Another perfect weekend for the books. Since it was my "off Friday" week, I consider Thursday night the start of my weekend! It was Taylor's anniversary and since her husband is away at a military training school, we made plans to take her out for dinner! She chose 5 Sisters, so we got our fried chicken and sweet tea grub on! After dinner we walked around downtown, listened to some Music in the Park, and later got dessert at The Wine Bar.

{Old Christ Church, Downtown Pensacola}

{Taylor, Me & Charlotte}

{Gorgeous summer night in Pensacola}

Friday my mom, sister, brother, sister-in-law & nephew came over to spend the day at the pool with me! It was a gorgeous day and I'm glad we got to all spend some quality time with one another.

{Jinx thinking Walker's nest was his.. we're in trouble with Charlotte's stuff!}

{Walkie giving Nana some smiles!}

{Big Momma in her element! ;) }

Saturday was basically a repeat of Friday for me! I got up, cleaned up the house a bit, then laid by the pool for a couple hours. Being nearly 9 months pregnant, there's not much I want to do besides lay in the sun! We did end up doing a little bit of running around Saturday evening. We made a stop by Lowes so Ethan could pick out his 1st Father's Day gift. I would have totally surprised him with it, but I don't have the slightest clue about power drills and such! Next year I promised homemade macaroni art from Charlotte and a tie! Haha!

{Happy {kinda} 1st Father's Day!}

Sunday Ethan and I tried to get a couple nursery project done. We're currently painting the back of Charlotte's bookshelf glittery gold, but ran out of spray paint halfway through. Bummer. We'll finish that this week! We met my family at my parent's house to celebrate the Dads with lunch together. Dakota caught a bunch of Red Snapper the day before, so we had fresh fish, potato salad, pasta salad, cheese grits and baked beans! Oh so good!

{Post lunch naps & baby cuddles}

{What happens on my phone when I nap..}

Late Sunday afternoon we made a stop by our lot to see if any progress was made. Ethan had had an onsite visit with our Project Supervisor on Thursday and we were told that they would mark off the lot to where the house would be placed. What we didn't expect to see was that they had broken ground and basically cut out the shape of the house onto the lot!! Yay for more progress than we could have expected! I'll be sharing more about the house tomorrow!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and Father's Day! Busy, busy week this week for me - I'm officially 9 months pregnant as of Monday, got two baby showers this week and a doctor's appointment! It'll literally be the weekend again before I know it! :)

Humpday Bumpday // Week 34

{34w6d}

how far along: 34 weeks! I've reached 8.5 months!

due date: July 20th

appointment update: My appointments lately have been short, sweet, and to the point! My blood pressure is still looking great and I've been able to watch my weight gain really well over the past month or so. Baby's heart rate was in the 150s and the doctor commented that she's an active one! She was kicking the Doppler wand and had the hiccups at the same time. I got back again during Week 36 and after that EVERY WEEK! Holy cow.. is this real life?

size of the baby:

{What to Expect App}

baby is: recognizing and reacting to simple songs, if I'm singing them! Which is absolutely crazy to me that she's listening to us! I do have a song from elementary school that I sing a lot, but not necessarily to her. It's about "seeing the wiggle worm" which is what I call her because she wiggles around all the time!

{Ovia Pregnancy App}

movement: She's my little wiggle worm and has an attitude to match! I also affectionately call her "baby hulk" which Ethan hates because it's not feminine, but she'll literally "hulk" out to one side and stay that way making me look all lopsided and off! Haha!

total weight gain: So since Ethan started dieting and eating right again, I've been eating right with him {so much easier just to eat what the healthy one is eating rather than grab take out..} and I've actually lost weight! Back under 190! Woohoo!

stretch marks: Same ole, same ole.

symptoms: Fatigue - 1. Katie - 0. I feel like I'm the driver of the struggle bus this week. Also noticed some "weird" clicking noises coming from my belly. I've googled like crazy trying to figure out what it could be, but basically everything says it's normal and could be anything from my ligaments stretching to the baby sucking her thumb. It doesn't hurt, but it's weird to hear. I even cleared this with my doctor and she said she's never heard of it, but it sounds like it's normal and nothing to worry about. Cool thing is that Ethan got to hear it! He says it sounds like my ligaments stretching and popping. It doesn't hurt, so I'm not going to worry about it, but has anyone else experience this?

wedding rings on or off: On during the day; off at night.

belly button in or out: Out. Which might I add is the weirdest thing ever. My poor belly button.. I really hope it goes back to normal afterwards!

maternity clothes: All day, every day. Oh, and Ethan's t-shirts! Haha!

sleep: Not good. Not good at all. Probably the reason I'm driving the struggle bus.

missing: I totally got skipped over for the wine list when we went to dinner for our 5th anniversary. Haha!

cravings/aversions: Salt & Vinegar chips and iced coffee. Together or separate.. I love them the same!

cries: Any commercial that I've never seen before that's supposed to pull the heart strings.. it'll make me cry, but once I've seen it and I know it's coming, I don't cry. Oh, and the Season 5 Finale of Game of Thrones. Holy tears..

nursery: We've hung pictures on her walls now and we purchased her changing pad, so the dresser portion/side of the room looks really good! Really all that's left are a few finishing touches!

ethan is: getting really excited to meet Charlotte! He's been asking me a bunch of questions relating to contractions and labor and water breaking and all sorts of things of that nature. I think I freaked him out a bit over the weekend, because he really, really wants me to get my hospital bag completely packed and in the car along with the car seat being installed. We're getting to that point in the pregnancy where the doctor said she wouldn't stop an active labor, and while we don't anticipate Little Miss coming early, it could happen.. ::insert shocked wide eyes::

best moments: Happy mail day! I received her swaddle and matching hat this week! Isn't it precious?! I'm so in love and can't wait to see her all snuggled up in it!

Also, we took another silhouette picture! The picture on the left is me at 32 week 5 days, and the picture on the right is 34 weeks 5 days. While I can say my belly is definitely bigger - do you guys think I'm dropping some? I know with the added weight it's bound to start "sagging" soon anyway. But what constitutes dropping versus sagging?
not so best moments: Apparently greasy food does not sit well with me anymore.. felt so gross after having fried chicken for lunch. Going to pass on that for the next 6 weeks!

looking forward to: We have two baby showers next week!

next appointment: June 25th! This is our last "every 2 weeks appointment." We start going weekly after this one!
